Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock Reuniting for New Movie at Amazon MGM

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are officially reuniting on-screen, and it’s not a Speed sequel, but something just as thrilling.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the iconic duo will star in a new romantic thriller being developed by Amazon MGM Studios. It’s the first time Reeves and Bullock will share the screen since 2006’s The Lake House, and their first action-leaning project together since the 1994 classic Speed.

Details are under wraps, but sources describe the plot as “propulsive”, which suggests a high-stakes, fast-moving narrative that leans into both suspense and emotion. The script is being written by Noah Oppenheim, best known for penning Jackie and co-writing The Maze Runner. The project will be produced by Mark Gordon, who also produced Speed, alongside Keanu Reeves and Bibby Dunn for The Mark Gordon Company. Bullock will produce via Fortis Films, and Oppenheim and Sarah Bremner are also attached as producers under Prologue Entertainment.

This reunion is more than just a studio move, it’s been years in the making. Reeves and Bullock have both spoken openly about wanting to work together again. In 2023, they appeared together on the 50 MPH podcast, discussing their chemistry and reflecting on the lightning-in-a-bottle success of Speed.

“Before I die, before I leave this planet,” Bullock said, “I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera.”

Reeves echoed the sentiment, saying: “It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there’s something that wasn’t done. I would love to work with you again before our eyes close.”

The bond between the two actors is often cited as one of Hollywood’s most wholesome friendships. While they’ve never dated in real life, both have admitted to having crushes on each other during Speed‘s filming, and fans have long hoped they’d reunite.

And now, nearly 20 years since they last starred together, it’s finally happening.

Bullock and Reeves’ chemistry, whether navigating a bus rigged to explode or exchanging letters across time, has always drawn audiences in. While this new project isn’t a sequel to either of their previous films, it does offer the same rare magic: two beloved stars who genuinely enjoy working together, backed by a team that understands their appeal.

No release date has been announced yet, and the film is still in the early development phase. But with Reeves and Bullock both on board creatively and a studio like Amazon MGM behind it, anticipation is already sky-high.

One thing’s for sure: whatever this “propulsive” thriller turns out to be, fans won’t need a speeding bus or magical mailbox to sign up for the ride.
