Khloe Kardashian is facing her biggest fear once again, and this time it came from her own six-year-old daughter.
The reality TV star, who has openly admitted her phobia of whales, got hilariously pranked by True Thompson, her daughter with ex Tristan Thompson, when the little one sneakily attached a whale-shaped keychain to Khloe’s purse.
The 40-year-old took to Instagram on Thursday (May 29, 2025), sharing a video that captured her reaction. “True is really into charms, and she loves accessorizing her backpack,” Khloe said. “Apparently she loves accessorizing my purse too, because I just saw that she put this on my purse, this whale keychain.” She made it clear True knew exactly what she was doing, adding, “She knows and she does this.”
Khloe didn’t hold back in expressing her feelings about the prank. “Because we have unicorn keychains, or hearts, or puppies, or anything. She gives me a whale,” she said in disbelief. “Oh, I can’t wait until she gets out of school and I get to ask her about the whale. Why?”
And when True got home from school, Khloe wasted no time confronting her. In another video clip, the Good American founder asked True about the prank. True sweetly replied, “I have this unicorn that Mommy gave me,” dodging the whale topic. Khloe fired back with a joke: “Is it to replace this wackadoodle?” Then in a moment of mock surrender, she said, “Should I just tell you that I love whales? I should tell you that.”
This moment isn’t the first time Khloe has talked publicly about her fear of whales. Back in 2023, during the season four premiere of The Kardashians, she shared her cetaphobia with the world and later elaborated on social media. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she opened up: “This has been a phobia of mine for years. I don’t want anything bad to happen to whales, and I know the phobia is totally irrational, but we don’t pick our phobias.”

She also admitted her fear runs deeper than just whales. “I low-key have a fear of the ocean, but a whale I can’t even look at; it freaks me out so much,” she wrote. “Oh my God, is that relatable? I hope so because I feel like such an idiot, admitting that it freaks me the f*** out.”
And she didn’t stop there, Khloe broke down her reasons, and honestly, they kind of make sense. “They are ginormous, and we discover new species all the time. Over 80% of our oceans are uncharted. That’s f***ing bananas! We don’t even know what’s in there.”
Naturally, her confession sparked a tidal wave of whale tweets and memes. It got so intense she had to beg fans to stop. “Can you guys please stop sending me whale tweets? I’m going to log off. It’s too much lol. I’m really getting uncomfortable.”
While Khloe clearly hates whales, her daughter True clearly loves pushing her buttons in the most adorable way possible. And honestly, fans are loving this mother-daughter dynamic. The prank might be petty, but it’s also peak Kardashian humor, equal parts wholesome and savage.
Whether or not Khloe ever gets over her fear is up in the air, but one thing’s for sure, True’s not done trolling her mom just yet. And we’re here for it.
