Kim Kardashian is testifying at the trial of the suspects behind the terrifying 2016 Paris robbery that left her tied up and held at gunpoint.
The reality star opened up about her experience during the robbery in an emotional session on May 13, 2025, and detailed the moments she feared for her life.
Kardashian, 44, was asked during the trial if she thought she was going to die during the horrific robbery. Her response was chilling: “I absolutely did think I was gonna die.” During the robbery, Kardashian was wearing nothing but a robe when one of the robbers grabbed her and exposed her body. “I was sure that I was going to be raped,” Kardashian told the court. Her legs were bound instead, but the terror she felt that night is still fresh in her memory.
She continued to recount the moments that had her feeling certain her life was on the line. “I have babies, and I need to get home to my babies,” she pleaded with the robbers, but they told her to “shut up.” Despite realizing that the robbers only seemed interested in stealing her jewelry, Kardashian’s fear didn’t subside. She was convinced that she wouldn’t make it out alive.
Kardashian told the court that after she was thrown onto the bed with her hands and feet bound, she felt certain that the robbers would shoot her. “At that point, I was sure that’s when they were going to shoot me,” she said. Desperate, she prayed for her family, her mom, Kris Jenner, and her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, and feared that Kourtney would find her dead body upon returning to the hotel.
After the robbers left, Kardashian, still tied up, waited for a few minutes before she was able to wriggle free. She managed to hop to her stylist’s room and get help, though the aftermath of the terrifying event has stuck with her.
This horrifying ordeal took place in October 2016, when Kardashian was visiting Paris for Fashion Week. Five masked men broke into her room at the No Address Hotel, tied her up, and locked her in a bathroom while they stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry. Among the stolen items were diamond Cartier bracelets, a gold and diamond Jacob necklace, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, a gold Rolex, and a $4 million ring gifted by then-husband Kanye West.
The investigation led to 17 arrests across France, and 10 people are now on trial for their involvement in the robbery. The group has been dubbed the “Grandpa robbers” by the French press due to their older ages and criminal backgrounds. One of the suspects, Yunice Abbas, 71, has publicly admitted to his role in the crime and even co-authored a book about the heist. However, he now claims the book title, “I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian,” misrepresents his actions.
In the aftermath of the robbery, Kardashian’s life has been forever changed. She’s been open about how she no longer feels safe traveling alone. Now, she travels with four to six bodyguards at all times, even when she’s at her home in California.
The trial is ongoing, and while Kardashian is clearly still haunted by the events of that night, her testimony is a powerful reminder of the lasting impact such a traumatic event can have on a person’s life.
