Lil Nas X Admits He Rejected a Song With Taylor Swift

Turns out the collab of pop fans’ dreams nearly happened – but didn’t. In a recent chat with E! News, Lil Nas X revealed that he was this close to jumping on a track with none other than Taylor Swift.

According to the “Old Town Road” hitmaker, Taylor offered him a chance to record a verse on one of her songs, but he ended up walking away from it.

“We were working on something,” he said. “She offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldn’t catch a vibe for it, so it didn’t happen.”

Yep – Lil Nas X turned it down.

And while that might sound like music sacrilege, he made it clear there’s no bad blood between them. In fact, he’s still very much open to working with Swift in the future.

“When it happens… Global. World. Tay-Tay and Nassy,” he joked, teasing fans with the possibility of an even bigger moment down the line.

The rapper also gave Taylor props for simply considering him for the song, saying, “I’m proud of my girl. I love the album. She’s been doing her thing. She’s at the very tippety top. I’m thankful that she even considered me.”

Swift’s most recent project, The Tortured Poets Department, features collaborations with Post Malone and Florence + The Machine. She’s previously teamed up with a powerhouse lineup that includes Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Future, Ice Spice, and Haim.

Lil Nas X, meanwhile, just dropped Days Before Dreamboy on March 28, continuing to lean into his signature mix of emotional vulnerability and genre-bending visuals.

Fans are already buzzing online about what a Taylor x Nas X track could sound like. Could it be pop? Country-trap 2.0? Something totally chaotic? We’ll have to wait and see. But if it ever drops, it’s bound to break the internet.
