The fact that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ended with Wanda Maximoff’s Scarlet Witch presumably dead has resulted in many attempts by fans to speculate about her fate.
Well, the latest issue of Marvel’s TVA comic series perhaps answered that question-just not exactly as fans did anticipate.

That stunning reveal comes courtesy of the third TVA issue, in which Scarlet Witch is lying in a mysterious glass coffin, with absolutely no explanation. The issue handled Wanda’s return very low-key, and there wasn’t any build-up to such a huge reveal-just this haunting visual that has set the internet alight with speculation.
Is the TVA Comic Series MCU Canon?
The single biggest point of confusion associated with this reveal is whether the TVA comic series is officially canon to the MCU. The series directly referenced MCU continuity through the appearance of Miss Minutes and Mobius, as well as Spider-Gwen referencing events from Loki Season 2.
To further make things interesting, series artist Pere Perez confirmed Wanda Maximoff’s appearance in the latest issue is indeed supposed to be the same Scarlet Witch played by Elizabeth Olsen in the MCU. The thing is, Marvel has a history of introducing comic elements that don’t necessarily find their way into the cinematic universe.
Fans React: Is This Really Wanda’s Future?

Since then, MCU fans have taken to social media and Reddit to theorize if this means Scarlet Witch will return in future films. Some claim that’s a major setup by Marvel for Wanda’s comeback in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, while others claim it might just be another comic reference that is misleading and won’t matter in the development of the MCU timeline. “It will be canon until the filmmakers don’t read this and do something else,” said one commenter on the r/MCUTheories subreddit. Another chimed in, “Marvel loves to put easter eggs in comics that never actually get picked up in the movies.”
Can Wanda Return in the MCU?
While this comic reveal gives a hint, the true answer probably resides with President Kevin Feige. With projects like Avengers: Doomsday, the Multiversal Saga is still ongoing and may finally showcase Scarlet Witch in a more official capacity.
For now, it leaves the fans wondering, was Wanda really dead, or has she been inside the TVA this whole time? But Marvel’s confirmation of Scarlet Witch’s fate only led to more speculations rather than closure.
As the Multiversal Saga rolls on, all eyes will be on future MCU projects to see if this shocking reveal will translate into a major comeback for Wanda Maximoff.
