“Matlock” Season 2 Premieres October 12: Here’s Where to Watch and Who’s Returning

CBS Emmy-nominated drama “Matlock” is finally back for Season 2, featuring the iconic Kathy Bates back in the courtroom.

The new season teases new twists, some engaging cases, and lots of drama as Matlock makes a comeback on television screens.

The series follows a “brilliant septuagenarian [Matlock] who won fame in her younger years and returns to the workforce at a high-end law firm with an ulterior motive, employing her unassuming presence and cunning strategies to win lawsuits,” per Paramount’s write-up.

Season 1 of Matlock captivated viewers with suspenseful plots and surprise twists – particularly the ominous Wellbrexa cover-up that left audiences guessing. Season 2 will continue where things were left off, with more high-stakes court battles and internal struggles ahead.

Matlock Season 2 premiere date and time

The second season of Matlock debuts Sunday, October 12, at 8:30 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. PT on CBS. New episodes will be broadcast weekly starting after the premiere on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, said Paramount.

Where to watch Season 2 of Matlock

Viewers can watch the Season 2 premiere on October 12 on CBS and stream the episode one day later on Paramount+ (October 10).

Paramount+ has two plans:

• Paramount+ Essential ($7.99/month): Features thousands of episodes, movies, and live NFL on CBS (with fewer ads).
• Paramount+ Premium ($12.99/month): Adds all the content in Essential, along with Showtime originals, blockbuster movies, and live TV with fewer commercials.

David Del Rio’s departure from the show

The new season comes amid scandal involving actor David Del Rio, who was suddenly dropped from the show after allegations of sexual assault came up. CBS verified Del Rio’s exit on October 9, but refused to comment further on the allegations, which emerged on Deadline and Variety.

A female co-star was involved in the incident, according to reports. Del Rio’s character, Billy Martinez, will be written out of the show in upcoming episodes, USA TODAY reports. The first half of Season 2, which has already been filmed, will still include him. The second half of the season will start production after a planned hiatus in October and November, not related to Del Rio’s departure.
