Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are known for their textbook fairytale romance.
While Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, recently claimed on her first ever podcast appearance that she and Harry are now more in love than ever before, they didn’t exactly get off on the right foot. In fact, their first date was sort of a disaster!

Believe it or not, Prince Harry first laid eyes on his future wife, Meghan Markle, while scrolling through Instagram. When he saw his friend Violet posing for a photo with a mystery woman, he was instantly enamored. In the pic, Violet and Meghan are using Snapchat dog filters. Despite the goofy nature of the Insta pic, Harry was still completely struck by Meghan, and instantly wanted to know more. He then immediately reached out to Violet, who cheerfully set the two up.
It was then that Harry and Meghan got to talking over text, where they began planning out ideas for the perfect first date.
Meghan Was Slightly Offended By Harry’s First Date Suggestion
While planning their first date, Harry suggested they spend it at his house. AKA, the royal palace. Yet Meghan, who didn’t know what she was getting herself into, took slight offense to the idea of spending her very first date at Harry’s place. This date idea suggested a more casual and low-key dynamic, which she wasn’t looking for. But with all things considered, it makes sense why Harry made the suggestion in the first place, considering his sheer level of fame. “I suggested my place,” Harry said of their first date locale in his tell-all book, “Spare.” “Your place? On a first date? I don’t think so,” he wrote of Meghan’s response. He then replied, “No, I didn’t mean it like that.”
“She didn’t realize that being royal meant being radioactive, that I was unable to just meet at a coffee shop or pub,” Harry revealed.
Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Had a Clumsy First Date
Fortunately, they were able to agree upon a first date setting outside of Harry’s royal palace. Meghan suggested they go to the Soho House on 76 Dean Street in London. The two met up the next night, yet Harry arrived in a puddle of sweat due to rushing over. (Unfortunately, due to traffic, he showed up a whole 30 minutes late.) Not off to a good start, Harry!
Fortunately, the pair ended up having a wonderful conversation while nestled up in Soho House, causing all the clumsiness from before to completely wash away.
Meghan Marke Is More In Love With Prince Harry Than Ever Before
Their first date was back in 2016, yet Meghan Markle says things are even more romantic for them now than they were all those years before. According to Meghan, this is because she and Harry continue to pursue each other as if they’re still in the “courting” stage of their relationship.
She said while appearing on Drew Berrymore’s Show, “We have this connection because we’re so committed to treating each other the same way we did before you had a ring on it, before it was locked down… When you’re just courting each other, and you can see all the good and joy from that butterfly period. And that’s how you keep things really alive. And it becomes a part of your love language.” How sweet?
