Megyn Kelly Slams Blake Lively Over TIME100 Honor: “A Ridiculous Joke”

Things got messy at the TIME100 Gala when Megyn Kelly decided to go off-script and call out Blake Lively – hard.

While Lively showed up in full glam with Ryan Reynolds and her mom by her side, Kelly didn’t hold back when asked how she felt about the Gossip Girl alum making the “Most Influential People” list.

“It’s a ridiculous joke,” Kelly said bluntly on the red carpet. “She shouldn’t be here. She has no influence over anything.” Then she went even deeper, accusing Lively of launching a “fake MeToo allegation” against her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Kelly claimed most of Lively’s accusations have already “fallen apart” and blasted Time for celebrating someone who tried to “ruin a man over absolutely nothing.”

Kelly wasn’t done. She joked she’d love to get a selfie with both Blake Lively and Meghan Markle “from a distance,” since they’ve both given her “so many hours of content” on The Megyn Kelly Show. She added, “I have a feeling she’ll be avoiding me. I won’t be avoiding anybody. I’m good.”

Lively, unfazed on the surface, stunned in a shimmering Zuhair Murad gown and smiled for cameras. But the night wasn’t free of controversy. Social media lit up with people dragging the decision to include her on the list. Comments like “Only in Hollywood can being a liar land you on a ‘Most Influential’ list” quickly made the rounds.

This all comes in the middle of a high-profile legal battle. In December 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign. Baldoni hit back hard, filing a $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and their longtime publicist Leslie Sloane. The trial’s not until 2026, but the drama is playing out in real time.

Still, not everyone is slamming Lively. Civil rights attorney Sherrilyn Ifill praised her for stepping up and doing the research before supporting serious causes, like fighting voter suppression and police brutality. So, while Kelly may have gone full scorched-earth, there are people who still see Lively as more than a red carpet star.
