Olivia Culpo is pregnant with her first baby, and while there’s been a lot to take in, one thing hit her the hardest, how much she still relies on her mom.
The model and former Miss Universe, who married NFL player Christian McCaffrey in June 2024, said being pregnant has given her a totally new appreciation for her mom, Susan.
“I have a lot of respect for my mom, but I didn’t expect to need her this much,” she told People. “She’s been so helpful, especially in the beginning when things were really tough.”
Olivia Culpo said the whole thing has been kind of ironic. “You need your mom the most right when you’re about to become a mom. That’s exactly how I’ve felt.”
She grew up in a big family with four siblings, and now that she’s starting one of her own, Olivia says she’s picking up on all the little things her mom did to make their house feel warm, mainly, through food.
“I don’t even know where to start when it comes to cooking,” she admitted. “But my mom always made sure people were fed. Food just makes a house feel like home. I definitely want that same feeling in my house too.”
Olivia also shared that she doesn’t plan on finding out the baby’s gender. “It’ll be a nice surprise,” she told E! News. “As long as the baby’s healthy, that’s really all that matters.”
She said her only job right now is to be as healthy and mindful as possible. No pressure, no big reveal parties, just doing her best and soaking it all in.
