Sabrina’s New Breakup Anthem Has Barry Keoghan Written All Over It

Sabrina Carpenter is back at it with another cheeky anthem, and this time, she’s not holding back, is it a dig at Barry Keoghan?

The pop star announced her new single titled Manchild in a way that left fans screaming and ex Barry Keoghan probably sweating. The Espresso singer, never one to shy away from bold statements, teased the track with a saucy Instagram clip of herself hitchhiking in barely-there shorts. And if the visual wasn’t loud enough, the caption made it crystal clear: “this one’s about you!! Manchild is out this Thursday 6/5 8pm EST♥️ special 7” vinyl available now.”

Yep, Sabrina Carpenter just dropped a bomb and made sure it had Barry Keoghan’s name all over it, even if she didn’t say it outright. Fans are convinced Manchild is aimed directly at her ex, and honestly, the receipts are all there. The vinyl teaser didn’t help cool the fire either. It read: “Inside of your head when you’ve just won an argument with a man.” Subtle? Not even close. Savage? Absolutely.

Let’s rewind a little. Sabrina and Barry first sparked dating rumors in September 2023. Their red carpet debut happened at a Grammys after-party in February 2024, making it clear they were very much a thing. They even hit the MET Gala together, looking like the artsy power couple nobody saw coming. Barry, who gained serious attention for his roles in Saltburn and The Banshees of Inisherin, was spotted supporting her at shows and even starred in her Please Please Please music video. That video, now feeling a little too real, followed a woman ignoring red flags while falling for someone she hopes won’t embarrass her. Oof.

But things went south. By August, The Sun on Sunday reported that Sabrina had dumped Barry, citing his out-of-control party habits. A source spilled that Barry’s behavior when drunk was just too much, and Sabrina, who’s been dominating the charts, wasn’t about to let anything throw her off track. “Barry acts like an idiot when he is drunk and Sabrina was getting increasingly frustrated,” the source said. “He has always been a party animal and Sabrina was fed up with his antics.” Honestly, can you blame her?

The two apparently tried to make things work again later in the year, but it was short-lived. They officially split for good in December 2024. A source close to the pair revealed to People that the breakup came down to timing and lifestyle differences. “They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break,” the insider said. While it wasn’t a dramatic falling out, it clearly left a mark, one that now exists in the form of a very pointed breakup anthem.

It’s worth noting that Barry’s career hasn’t exactly slowed down either. He’s set to play Ringo Starr in a massive four-part Beatles biopic series, so he’s got his own spotlight to stand under. But let’s be honest: nothing screams “I moved on” like releasing a song that drags your ex in front of millions.

Sabrina’s Manchild isn’t just a breakup song, it’s a power move. She’s known for blending playful sexuality with raw emotion in her lyrics, and this new track looks like it’ll keep that streak alive. From the cheeky visuals to the title itself, she’s making sure everyone knows she’s in charge of her narrative.

Fans are already hyped to hear the full track drop this Thursday, June 5 at 8 PM EST. And with a limited edition 7” vinyl already up for grabs, Manchild might just become another chart-smashing anthem in her already stacked discography.

If Barry thought the breakup was the end of it, he might want to think again, because Sabrina Carpenter just turned their history into her next hit.
