Selma Blair has some amazing news to share with her fans: she’s officially in remission from multiple sclerosis! The 52-year-old actress, who was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease back in 2018, shared that she’s been feeling “amazingly well” for about a year now. For the first time in a long while, Selma feels like herself again, saying she finally has the stamina and energy to go out and live life without fear. “Now that I actually have stamina and energy, getting out and going out isn’t so scary,” she shared in a heartfelt interview with People.

It’s been a tough journey for the Legally Blonde star, who had spent much of her life battling exhaustion and pain from the disease. But now, Selma says she’s looking forward to the future with excitement. “I haven’t spent enough time having dreams,” she admitted. “Now it’s like, ‘What are my dreams?'” It’s a powerful moment for someone who had spent years just trying to get through each day.
Although she’s been in remission since 2021, Selma is an advocate for people with chronic illnesses. She says her passion for the work of helping others has not waned, and she will continue to raise awareness about MS and what living with a chronic illness looks like.
As much as she would love nothing more than to make acting her priority, Selma’s ambitions go way beyond her career. She wants to make a difference for others dealing with the same struggles.

She’s had her challenges, too, including living with dystonia, a condition causing involuntary muscle contractions, a symptom of her MS. But through all the ups and downs, Selma says she’s never felt better. “I am still in remission. Everything’s great,” she said, noting that while she still experiences some symptoms, they don’t define her. Selma was also candid about what it’s like to have MS: “It is hard. I do get tired,” she said. “But when I’m up, I’m doing it, and I’m happy. I’m really happy.”
And that is absolutely nothing short of inspiring, as she calls on others to be serious with their health while rejoicing in each day. Remission for Selma Blair is testimony to her strength and resilience. From battling MS to finding a new purpose, Selma has continued to be a beacon of hope for many.
