Selma Blair has some incredible news to share with her fans, she’s officially in remission from multiple sclerosis! The 52-year-old actress, who was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease back in 2018, revealed that she’s been feeling “amazingly well” for about a year now. For the first time in a long while, Selma feels like herself again, saying she finally has the stamina and energy to go out and live life without fear. “Now that I actually have stamina and energy, getting out and going out isn’t so scary,” she shared in a heartfelt interview with People.
It’s been a tough journey for the Legally Blonde star, who had spent much of her life battling exhaustion and pain from the disease. But now, Selma says she’s looking forward to the future with excitement. “I haven’t spent enough time having dreams,” she admitted. “Now it’s like, ‘What are my dreams?’” It’s a powerful moment for someone who had spent years just trying to get through each day.
Despite being in remission since 2021, Selma continues to advocate for people living with chronic illnesses. Her dedication to helping others hasn’t faded, and she plans to continue raising awareness about MS and what living with a chronic illness looks like. And while she would love to return to acting, Selma’s ambitions go beyond just her career. She wants to make a difference for others dealing with the same struggles.
She’s also had her challenges, including living with dystonia, a condition that causes involuntary muscle contractions, a symptom of her MS. But despite the ups and downs, Selma says she’s never felt better. “I am still in remission. Everything’s great,” she shared, noting that while she still experiences some symptoms, they don’t define her.
Selma also opened up about the realities of living with MS. “It is hard. I do get tired,” she explained. “But when I’m up, I’m doing it and I’m happy. I’m really happy.” Her positive outlook on life and health is nothing short of inspiring, as she encourages others to take their health seriously while still finding joy in every day.
Selma Blair’s remission is a testament to her strength and resilience. From facing the challenges of MS to finding a new sense of purpose, Selma continues to be a beacon of hope for many.
