Serena Williams might have retired from tennis, but she just landed another major headline—this time, at the Super Bowl halftime show.

The 23-time Grand Slam champ surprised fans when she took center stage during Kendrick Lamar’s performance of his viral Drake diss track ‘Not Like Us.’

A Full-Circle Moment for Compton’s Finest

Williams, a Compton native, has always worn her roots with pride. When Lamar’s team reached out, linking her Olympic-winning crip walk to his halftime show, she jumped at the chance.

“I’m like Super Bowl? Are you serious? When in the world would I ever be able to dance at a Super Bowl? (Never) Let’s do it!” Williams shared on Instagram.

Serena’s Viral Moment: A Message to Drake?

The timing of her appearance wasn’t lost on fans. Williams and Drake had a brief romance in the 2010s, and with Lamar using the halftime stage to double down on their rap beef, some saw Serena’s dance as her own subtle jab.

Drake, who was performing in Australia at the time, addressed the situation on stage, telling the crowd, “If you ever wasted time on someone who didn’t deserve it, make some noise.” He then performed You Broke My Heart—a not-so-subtle response.

Williams’ Husband and Fans React

Not everyone was thrilled with her cameo. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith joked that he wouldn’t be okay with his partner trolling an ex on such a public stage. But Serena’s husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, wasn’t fazed.

“Some of y’all have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago, and it shows… This is bigger than the music,” Ohanian tweeted.

Super Bowl Legacy Secured

Whether it was a planned move or just another iconic Serena moment, Williams cemented herself as a part of Super Bowl history. Fans are still buzzing about her brief but impactful performance.

“That was the best 10 seconds of my life. Ten seconds!” Serena said after the show.

Love it or hate it, Serena Williams once again proved that no stage is too big for her—not even the Super Bowl.
