On April 28, Teddi Mellencamp turned heads on the red carpet at the 2025 Unforgettable Evening Gala in Los Angeles. The moment was monumental in her cancer journey.

Not only was this her first red carpet appearance since her melanoma diagnosis, but it was also the first time she had unveiled her dramatic new look – a shaved head – following recent surgeries to remove brain tumors. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, aged 43, had been fighting a melanoma which had spread to her lungs and brain, a battle she courageously made public early this year.
Back in February, Teddi announced the sad news that her melanoma had spread and, shortly afterwards, revealed her shaved head-the result of treatment to remove tumors that had reached her brain. Then, in April, Teddi hit her first red carpet since the diagnosis. The gala was a fundraiser for the Women’s Cancer Research Fund, and she surely made a statement as she posed with her buzz cut, fitted all-black blazer-and-pants set. She complemented her look with silver necklaces and earrings, showing she is strong and unafraid.
The star had earlier taken to her Instagram Story to give her fans a sneak peek at her preparations, where she was getting ready with the help of her glam team. Though the surgery scars were still very noticeable, she was able to flash a bright smile and radiate in her after-shot photos, showing just how far she’s come along in recovery. She captioned one of her pictures “Pre-glam,” which she shared with her followers to give them a candid look at her journey.
In an emotional Instagram post, Teddi revealed her journey since her rush to the ER with debilitating headaches, which eventually led to finding several plum-sized tumors in her brain and lungs. “Since then I’ve had multiple surgeries, been very sick, and had rage from steroids but I’ve also laughed a ton, rode horses, loved on my kids, and felt great,” she shared. Since she first came home after the tumor-removing surgery, breaking down in tears at the sight of her scars, Teddi has found solace in her family, friends, and followers. She concluded with a call to self-care and being one’s advocate, entreating her followers to go get checked if something doesn’t feel right.

On April 23, Teddi provided a more recent update with some hopeful news. She let her followers know that all of her tumors have either shrunk or vanished, and doctors are feeling optimistic about her future. With her last two sessions of immunotherapy finished, she’s hopeful to be declared cancer-free soon. And in conclusion, Teddi’s post had a very empowering message for others, reminding her audience, “Advocate for yourself. We’ve got this.”
The unwavering strength and positivity of Teddi Mellencamp continue to inspire everyone, and her openness with her journey through cancer helps others face their battles. Now, during recovery, she is all about family, health, and spreading love to others.
