According to a bombshell Monday, May 12 report from TMZ, Tory Lanez was allegedly stabbed in prison and rushed to the hospital.
Born Daystar Peterson, the Canadian rapper is on the mend after an altercation with another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. Sources, including a law enforcement source, tell Variety that Lanez was assaulted in the prison yard and removed via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening, though details continue to come in.

The 32-year-old “Traphouse” rapper was sentenced to 10 years for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion back in July 2020. The time behind bars had already been marred in controversy, and this latest incident just adds fuel to the fire. PEOPLE have reached out to Lanez’s legal team; there’s been no official comment from them yet.
This alleged stabbing incident comes less than a year from the time Lanez was sentenced this past August 2023, coming after a December 2022 conviction on one felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, one for carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Of course, this all happened after that fateful night in Hollywood Hills when he shot Megan in the feet.
But it didn’t stop there. This January, Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, was granted a five-year restraining order against Lanez. That order, which is effective through January 9, 2030, was confirmed by Judge Richard Bloom in the Superior Court of California in L.A. County. After Megan had presented compelling evidence and stated-quite chillingly- “I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again and maybe this time I won’t make it,” the court ruled in her favor. That quote-which journalist Meghann Cuniff cited-reveals just how much fear and trauma Megan continues to live with.
The reasons, according to court documents, were “unlawful violence, a credible threat of violence, or stalking.” Megan had filed the order back in December 2024 asking the court to stop Lanez from allegedly harassing her through third parties while he serves time. Documents accused Lanez of continuing to revictimize her despite being sentenced.
“Despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Ms. Pete, Mr. Peterson continues to subject her to repeated trauma and revictimization,” the paperwork read. That was not all; Lanez fired back, accusing Megan of “weaponizing the justice system.”
Since the shooting incident in 2020, the toxic behavior between them has been very public, and very heated. In the meantime, there are reports that Lanez was stabbed in prison, and the chaos that seems to surround him doesn’t appear anywhere near done.
This stabbing adds another dark chapter to this already disturbing saga. Though Lanez’s condition is reportedly stable, it brings into serious question his safety behind bars. No longer is this a rap beef; this is a cautionary, full-blown tale of violence, trauma, and consequences.
Being stabbed while in prison for one convicted of such a violent crime shows just how precarious things can get even after the courtroom verdict is in.

The whole Lanez legal journey, the turbulent relationship with Megan, and now this alleged stabbing have set into motion a storyline that simply will not get off the front pages. Love him or hate him, there’s no denying this ongoing saga has been rocking the music world and spurring debate over justice, celebrity, and accountability.
