Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is in deeper trouble as disturbing new details continue to unfold in his federal trial.
The rapper, 55, is currently facing serious charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals for prostitution. But on Tuesday, things took an even darker turn when Cassie Ventura’s mother dropped a bombshell in court – that she and her husband allegedly paid Diddy $20,000 because they feared for their daughter’s safety.
Cassie’s mom, Regina Ventura, 63, testified during the latest round of witness statements. She followed up on the emotionally charged testimony given by her daughter Cassie, 38, just last week. Regina told jurors she and her husband, Rodrick Ventura, 65, took out a home equity loan to raise the $20,000 after Diddy demanded money in a rage. He was reportedly furious that Cassie had a romantic relationship with rapper Scott Mescudi, aka Kid Cudi, and felt entitled to reimbursement for money he had spent on her.
“It was understood that he was going to need $20,000 to recoup money he had spent on her because he had been angry that she had had a relationship with Scott Mescudi,” Regina said in court. “He was angry that he had spent money on her and she had been with another person.”
This shocking payment wasn’t a gift or a settlement – it was a desperate attempt by her parents to de-escalate what they feared was becoming a dangerous situation. Regina added that she had started noticing physical marks on Cassie’s body and felt something was very wrong. “I wanted to make sure we memorialized it,” she said. She started documenting the signs of abuse because she feared it could get worse.
Cassie herself had a hard time admitting everything to her mom. In her own testimony, she revealed she struggled to open up fully about what she was enduring, even though her mom had strong instincts that something terrible was going on. “I didn’t tell my mom the truth because I was ashamed,” Cassie admitted. “I didn’t want to put my mother in danger of knowing anything of that magnitude.”
She also revealed that her mother once called the police after an argument with Combs about infidelity spiraled out of control. That wasn’t an isolated fight – it was part of a toxic, long-running pattern. Cassie detailed years of abuse that began in the mid-2000s when she was just 19 and Diddy was 36.
She testified that Diddy manipulated and abused her throughout their relationship, allegedly forcing her into drug-fueled sex acts with escorts, which he called “freak-offs.” These sessions reportedly lasted for days and were part of a lifestyle of control and exploitation.
Back in 2007, when speaking to the New York Times, Cassie had put on a brave face. “My parents raised me right. I work hard, and I want to prove I deserve what I have. I talk to them every day,” she said then. Now, nearly two decades later, that close family bond is being revisited in a courtroom – but with heartbreak instead of pride.
Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted, he could face life in prison. While his legal team continues to deny the allegations, the weight of the evidence – and the emotions shared in court, paints a disturbing picture. The case isn’t just about criminal charges anymore. It’s about the fear and trauma that Cassie and her family say they lived with for years, all while the world saw them as just another glamorous music couple.
