Ye Admits He Dreams About Apologizing To Jay-Z

Ye is back in his feels, and this time it’s about his longtime friend and collaborator, Jay-Z.

Over the weekend, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West took to X and shared something rare, remorse. “All my dreams have been about apologizing to Jay Z,” Ye wrote, admitting that he’s haunted by the way things have gone down between them. For fans of The Throne, it’s the kind of post that hits deep.

This isn’t the first time Ye has publicly shown regret. Back in April, he dropped a since-deleted tweet saying, “I’m sorry, Jay-Z.” That apology was tied to a major low point when, just a month earlier, Ye went on a wild X rant and suggested that Jay and Beyoncé’s twins, Rumi and Sir, had mental disabilities. The internet came down hard on him, and even Ye later admitted he felt awful about it. In that same tweet, he vented, “I be feeling bad about my tweet, but I still feel I gave my life to this industry and thought so many people were my family, but when I needed family on some real sh, none of these rap n, as had my back.”

That statement summed up where Ye’s head has been lately, burned out, isolated, and searching for real connections. And Jay-Z seems to be right at the center of that internal tug-of-war. Their friendship and creative partnership have been rocky for years, and Ye’s MAGA era didn’t help. One of the key moments that drove a wedge between them was a bar Jay dropped on “Jail” from Ye’s 2021 Donda album. The line? “Stop all of that, red cap, we’re going home. / Not me with all of these sins, casting’ stones. / This might be the return of The Throne.” It was a complicated lyric, part diss, part olive branch, but it clearly pointed to tension over Ye’s MAGA hat phase, which Jay didn’t co-sign.

Despite the mess, fans haven’t given up hope that Ye and Jay-Z could eventually make peace and possibly reunite creatively. That “return of The Throne” line still lingers in the minds of hip-hop heads who saw them dominate as a duo on their 2011 Watch the Throne album. And with Ye now publicly expressing his regrets and literally dreaming of apologizing, it feels like something’s shifting. Whether Jay is listening or willing to talk is a whole other story.

Earlier this week, another big-name collaborator, Pusha T, also addressed his strained relationship with Ye, yet another sign that the Chicago native may be trying to clean house emotionally and professionally. Ye has said he wants to fix that too, adding fuel to the theory that he’s working through past beefs and trying to rebuild bridges.

So what now? Will Jay-Z accept Ye’s apology, even if it’s delivered through cryptic social media posts instead of a face-to-face convo? No one knows. Jay’s been quiet on the matter, which isn’t surprising. He tends to stay above the fray. But with Ye making public pleas and revisiting old wounds, it’s clear he’s longing for a reset, not just in music, but in life.
