FDA Issues Emergency Recall: Are Your Favorite Granola Bars Contaminated?

Millions of granola bars are being pulled from store shelves after the FDA upgraded its recall of MadeGood granola bars due to a risk of metal contamination.

If you’ve recently purchased granola bars from Target, Whole Foods, or on Amazon, you may want to read on.

Originally, 2.4 million cases of MadeGood granola bars had been recalled by the FDA in December 2024. Things didn’t remain that contained. The recall was classified as a Class II recall, which means ingestion could result in “adverse health effects.”

What’s Wrong with the Granola Bars?

According to Riverside Natural Foods, Inc., the maker of MadeGood products, some of its granola bar batches manufactured between January and November of 2024 may contain metal fragments.

Although no injuries have been reported so far, the company is encouraging customers to return any affected product immediately.

Which flavours are affected?

If you have any of the following flavors in your home, stop eating them and return them for a full refund:

  • Chocolate Chip
  • Strawberry
  • Mixed Berry
  • Cookies & Creme

What Should You Do?

MadeGood has directed consumers to return the recalled granola bars to the place where they were bought, for a full refund. The retailer will then dispose of the affected products accordingly.

It has identified the problem, made the needed correction, and assured customers that future products would be safe.
