Hailing from Germany, DJ/Producer CALVO drops a heartfelt re-work of, ‘Let Me Love You’ – dance floor ready & set to fire up another wave of global love.
We caught up with the German DJ/Producer and spoke to him about this rework, and how it came about.
T.H.E – Hey CALVO! Welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials. How has this year been for you so far?
CALVO – So far it has been a great start, ‘Let me Love You’ was signed and released by Universal, I ́am having some other pretty exciting projects and I am looking forward to the festival summer!
What made you decide to re-work the iconic ‘Let Me Love You’?
CALVO – So first of all, I always loved the original – I associate many gorgeous memories with it! Second: When I was a teenager there was a ‘’white label” big room bootleg of this track and I played it at every party!
T.H.E – What was the pressure like, given that the original is a much-loved & popular record?
CALVO – Well, of course, there was some kind of pressure- I mean this song is a legend, but as a fan, I felt it as a task, to help this song getting a new audience. Of course, it was a great honor to work with this song!
T.H.E – In your opinion, what was the toughest part of the track to re-create?
CALVO – I think the voices were the most toughest part, because they are supposed to transport the same emotions as in the original, but still sound different with the new instruments.
T.H.E – How have your fans reacted to it, live?
CALVO – Honestly, I was overwhelmed by the great feedback from the fans and other DJs -In the meantime, the track even reached the top 10 at iTunes, as an artist you can not ask for more.
T.H.E – Let’s talk about your signature sound. How would you describe it?
CALVO – I would describe it as a mixture of garage bassline, bouncy grooves, and some positive vibes.
T.H.E – On the DJ’ing front, which have been some of your favourite countries to play in?
CALVO – One of my favorite gigs was in South Africa at the shimmy beach club. The atmosphere was breathtaking and the whole country is so beautiful!
T.H.E – Lastly, what can you tell us about any other plans for 2019?
CALVO – Well, the next track is already on the starting block, furthermore I will work with two high-caliber artists, but for now, I can’t tell you more – top secret!
