discotek interview

Discotek talks about “Find Me”, his musical influences, creative process, and more.

Aditya – Hello, we’re glad to have you for this interview. How was the first half of this year for you?

Discotek – This year has been a light at the end of a very dark tunnel for many in the entertainment industry! I’m so glad to see so many happy faces at many festivals and nightclubs again! Myself personally I have been writing a lot in the studio and siging music to a lot of record labels which has been exciting.

Aditya – I was going through your discography on Spotify, and I came across ‘Find Me’. The tune sounds fire! What’s the creative process behind the track?

Discotek – The find me lead sample came from my years of listening to sound banks. One night I was messing round with some older banks and came accross the sample again. As soon as I did I knew it was going to get the dance floor going. Then once I got Juicy M and Kom involved together we got an absolute heater!

Aditya – You have a very a future-esque aesthetic, what’s the ideation behind it?

Discotek – Myself, I am actually a little older then most DJs! I am 80+ years of age. My backstory is from a different time. I am here to attempt to amend the wrong doings of a few certain fleshbags that have used greed to change the world as we know it. In 2250 the world is a different place. Ai Technology and cyborgs (human mixed with ai) is a very real thing. So tbis is part of the way why I am like this.

Aditya – What’s your creative process in general? How do you begin to write music?

Discotek – I am inspired by my memories and events that have happened to me. For example find me started as an idea of myself rummaging as a junker in my district trying to just survive. The song goes through the emotion of emotional bass lines to a fast and stabby lead synths. The song was originally designed to portray a day of ups and downs, in my music video I created for this song that is on my Instagram you can see it unfold there. And then once I asked juicy m and kom to also put their spin on it. The song became sometbing bigger then I ever thought!

Aditya – Who are your influences and why?

Discotek – I’m influenced by a large Audience. I like artists like DVLM for their crowd control and show energy. I love the smash the house label also for their constant support with one another.

Music wise I think 2012-2014 skrillex, Afrojack, deorro was an amazing time for edm music along with the others back then pushing the envelope. As far as my direction for myself I am wanting to create something that defines me as an artist so my peers can respect my sound!

Aditya – What’s your studio setup like? Any specific gear/pugin you cannot work without?

Discotek – FL Studio 20
Serum, sylenth , nexus go to VST for sound design.
Fab filter pro 3 and Saturn used a lot plus soothe 2 for smoothing harsh frequencies. OTT, camel crusher etc.
OZONE 9 and The Glue help the final master

Aditya – What are your thoughts on AI? Do you believe it’ll take over the world?

Discotek – Ai will take over the world it’s just will it be for good or bad! It will solve many problems for us and by 2035 it will outdo the human mind! I just hope it take a different path to the one I have already seen!

Aditya – How do you envision music 50 years from now?

Discotek – This is a tricky one, I don’t see it tho changing like the last 50 years. With the way ai and digital is going I see it staying along the lines of what we have now with a few additions along the way

Aditya – Do you think crypto and blockchain technology is the future, and why?

Discotek – I’m A big believer in the blockchain and love crypto! This will revolutionize how we do many things all over the world. The nft system also will help our industry involve also!

Aditya – Lastly, Star Wars or Star Trek?

Discotek – When you look at the dark side, carefully you must be. For the dark side looks back!
