Signalling another sure-fire release from Strange Fruits, the trailblazing label headed up by Steve Void – this time presenting the epic DMNDS re-work of classic cut, ‘Seven Nation Army’.

We caught up with the talented producer duo, DMNDS to discuss behind the scenes of their latest studio output & more – check out what went down below!

T.H.E – Hey guys, thanks for joining us today & welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials! Can you introduce yourselves to our readers & share a little about your respective journeys into the industry, leading up to DMNDS?

DMNDS – We met in 2016 in a very random way thanks to some common and very close friends. Everything happened in quite an unexpected way, but we immediately find a connection/feeling between the two of us. Both our backgrounds melted in an interesting new identity and we felt the need to explore it and express it in a new way.

When we started working together it exploded into a multi-faceted and not defined musical genre that was completely new, and worth being explored more in depth.

T.H.E – Is there a specific meaning or back story behind the name “DMNDS”?

DMNDS – Our music mainly inspired the name, this multi-faceted genre that express light and shines with a crystal-clear sound really takes shape as a diamond in our imaginary. Actually, the super funny thing about it it’s that we still remember that exact moment we’ve found out it was the perfect name in our studio after a day of messy notes and scribbles on dozens of paper sheets trying to find one that could work.

T.H.E – Congrats on your dope re-work of the classic record ‘Seven Nation Army’, can you tell us about your inspiration behind covering the track & how it found a home on trailblazing label, Strange Fruits?

DMNDS – This song has always had a place in our heart for one funny reason, in effect, that is linked to football World Cup, as in 2007 it became the anthem of Italy’s winning the competition and we were kids. The idea came out very randomly from Koysina that proposed us a collab and as we heard the vocals, we immediately thought there was a big potential in it and started working on it right after.

T.H.E – Could you describe DMNDS signature sound, in three words for us?

DMNDS – Fortunately for you we got combo-words that creates the net of our identity by crossing the terms.

Bouncing – Slapping – Bass

Crystal – Clear – Touch

High – Energy – Booster

T.H.E – When it comes to your collaborative production process, do you each have a specific area you focus on more?

DMNDS – Of course, be both have our favourite sides of the production process. Felipe is freaking good in traveling into the hyper-dimension of sounds and rhythm creation while Andrea is amazing in mix/mastering, perfecting, sound design.

But we really collaborate a lot in all the parts of the process, we experiment a lot and always try to push our boundaries to the limit.

T.H.E – What was one of the best shows you’ve attended / performed at and what made it so special?

DMNDS – The one we attended that felt more special was Tomorrowland in 2014, the 10th anniversary of the event. We were dreaming about a career in music and seeing all our idols on the stages really motivated us to reach our goal

All of the shows we performed were so amazing and special in different ways, and especially in this moment we understood the importance of doing what you really love and we really miss DJing life and the connection to the audience that makes you feel special and high every time.

T.H.E – And finally, looking ahead into 2021 – do you have any exclusive DMNDS news you can share with our readers?

DMNDS – We’re receiving news every day, so we’re not really sure if we are allowed to talk about certain things yet, of course we invite you guys to follow us on socials, so you won’t miss any BIG NEWS!
