Based in Turin & hailed as the No1 female DJ in Italy in 2020 (by the respected Djane Mag) Italian DJ Greta Tedeschi, recently dropped her single ‘Patrick Swayze’ – released on revered dance music imprint, Media Records.
Founded in 1987 by Gianfranco Bortolotti, Media Records became one of the most pioneering dance labels in the world – having an integral role in shaping the sounds of the 80’s & 90’s. Also known for their contribution in breaking artists including Cappella, 49ers, Gigi D’Agostino, Mauro Picotto & many more.
We managed to grab a quick chat with Greta Tedeschi, check out what went down below!
T.H.E – Hey Greta, thanks for joining us today & welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials! Can you share a little about your personal journey into the electronic music industry & the evolution of your career been like to this point?
Greta Tedeschi – At the age of 16, I started out as a resident DJ playing three times a week in my home city of Torino, Italy. The most important turning point taking my career to the next level came when I performed in front of 200,000 people at the Molo Street parade, in Rimini. As a result of this exposure, a lot of booking agencies began promoting and selling my gigs in my country as well as in Europe.
T.H.E – Congrats on your infectious new single, ‘Patrick Swayze’ – can you tell us about your inspiration behind the track?
Greta Tedeschi – Thanks! For my single ‘Patrick Swayze’ I took inspiration from the era of the classic movie “dirty dancing” where Patrick Swayze plays the main character.
T.H.E – Has there been a stand out moment or achievement in your career that you feel most proud of to date?
Greta Tedeschi – When I started to tour in Asia and America, making me the first DJane in Italy and #95 in the world – by djanemag.
T.H.E – What was one of the best shows you’ve attended / performed at and what made it so special?
Greta Tedeschi – Pretty much all shows have been important for my growth in some way, so I will always keep them in my heart.
T.H.E – Could you describe your signature sound, in three words for us?
Greta Tedeschi – Electro, House, 90’s
T.H.E – Do you have any upcoming releases that you can tell us about?
Greta Tedeschi – I don’t want to give too much away, I’ll keep my new upcoming releases a surprise 😜
T.H.E – And finally, what are some of your next goals and objectives as an artist – as you look further into 2021 and beyond?
Greta Tedeschi – I’m starting a collaboration with an Italian and Switzerland radio where I host a radio show about Italian and international DJanes. In 2021… I hope to play live shows again, soon!
