DEEPSTEP (Anton Polygalov, born 15 November 1984) is a Russian-American musician, DJ, singer-songwriter, record producer, director and entrepreneur.

Check out our chat with Anton where he talks about his sounds, highlights of 2017 and what we can expect from him in 2018.

T.H.E – How’s it going and what have you been up to?

Deepstep – Lately I’ve been producing a new track along with the music video every 6 weeks or so. In addition, all my music videos are directed by me as well, so it gives my creative flow a different dimension and I can express myself as an artist using another media. I’ve been spending a lot of time at the studio but honestly I enjoy the process. It’s a fun ride, no complaints.

T.H.E – For those who might not know you, how would you describe your sound?

Deepstep – It’s kind of a tasty dish of fresh EDM Pop with a layer of Future Bass covered in rich House Music sauce. (laughs)

T.H.E – 2017 is almost getting to a close. How has it been for you personally and what would be your top 3 highlights of the year from a touring and production point of view?

Deepstep – Of course, one of the biggest highlights of 2017 was hearing my first track “Hit me up” on 103.9 FM Los Angeles Radio Station.

That was incredible. I felt like I was going in the right direction and it gave me a huge motivation to keep going. The second highlight was definitely the amount of love I got for my music videos. In the first few months they hit over 600,000 views. Lastly, my third highlight of the year is the experience I gained in the music industry, which is priceless. I learned a lot of important information and re-evaluated some of my opinions. Out with the old, in with the new.

T.H.E – What can you tell us with respect to future plans in terms of production and DJing in the near future?

Deepstep – I won’t give out all the secrets today. One thing for sure, in 2018 will show a totally different side of me and you are going to like it. (laughs)

T.H.E – Describe your production process for us. How do you go about the creative process of writing tracks?

Deepstep – There really isn’t any specific way of creating. It sort of comes as you work your way into it.
Sometimes right away I can ride that wave when you know it just flows effortlessly and other times I’ll spend hours trying new synths and beats until I get the right feel to it.

T.H.E – We are sure it’s difficult to be continuously inspired to keep coming up with new melodies and ideas. What inspires you and keeps you going?

Deepstep – Honestly, it can be absolutely different tracks or even fragments. I can be really into a drop out of David Guetta’s new track, chorus out of Weekend’s and claps out of Taylor Swift’s. Once I’m at the studio I try to combine all these inspirations into something fresh and different. Sometimes it works out and I end up with a track of my own that is not so bad either. (laughs)

T.H.E – Name your top 5 favorite artists in the industry.

Deepstep – Zedd, Calvin Harris, Avicii, Deadmaus and The Chainsmokers

T.H.E – What are some of the goals that you have set for yourself in 2018?
