RAE

A unique dance industry combination of singer-songwriter, DJ, remixer and producer, who marries powerful vocals and house beats in ever more creative ways, RAE has been driving a quality house agenda for some time now, largely under Defected Records’ patronage.

Up next for the versatile artist is a trip to India, where she is set to bring over her own mixing and vocal performance style, an occasion not to be missed. Read our chat below where RAE talks about fans can expect from her set, and her recent release with House of Virus – Yesterday.

T.H.E – You’ve got dates lined up in Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad – have you ever visited India before? – Are you looking forward to coming here?

DJ RAE – Yes, I have done a few great tours and this will be my second time in these cities. I can’t wait to be back, it’s a special place and each city has a unique vibe. I’m sure it has changed a lot since my last visit too, so I’m really excited.

T.H.E – What can fans expect to hear at your sets?

DJ RAE – Infectious house music and some big vocals.

T.H.E – Can you tell us about your new release ‘Yesterday?’ – What was it like working with House of Virus?

DJ RAE – It’s a song I wrote in one of my retrospective moods. It’s got emotion and reminds me of my early inspirations in clubs and house music. The House of Virus guys brought some of their magic to the project and together I think we got something really special. It’s been a great collaboration.

T.H.E – Do you have any future plans to release music?

DJ RAE – Of course, I don’t stop. The collaborations and my solo productions are all rolling out this year. And my own label is part of my next phase, I’m really excited about that.

T.H.E – Aside from producing, you’ve also been singing live for the Hacienda Classical Orchestra. What is it like to perform with such a global brand?

DJ RAE – I’m really proud to be involved. The Hacienda is part of dance culture history and has had such an influence on me and so many who love house music. Singing to massive passionate crowds at some of the best venues in the UK, on tour with people who are not only hugely talented but also really nice people, it’s the best, I’m having a great time.

T.H.E – You’ve been selling out Arenas with those guys, are you looking forward to playing on the Glastonbury mainstage?

DJ RAE – I’m so excited, I want to savour every minute of being on that stage, It will definitely be a huge highlight for me.

T.H.E – What are your 3 favourite tracks at the minute?

DJ RAE –

Yesterday – House of Virus x DJ Rae

Come back – Ninetoes

On My Mind – Disciples (Denney Remix)

T.H.E – What are you most looking forward to in the summer?
