With a play on the pop star demeanor which is dictating the music scene these days, Doc Trashz has taken a swipe at the pop culture and shown that underground music, especially electronic variants, is here to stay and can’t be stopped by the pop stars. We wanted to learn a bit more about the track, and so we caught up with the artist to find out what went into this great track.

T.H.E – So – can you sum up the inspiration behind the name and what made you choose it?

Doc Trashz – I have always done many different kinds of music, and this time I did something with a really “poppy” touch. Following my past releases like “IMDP” or “Ham On Eyes” I wanted to find an ironic title name, obviously, I’m not a pop star so the title “Flop Star” just jumped into my mind! Every day I see tons of people, especially on social networks, that is feeling like a pop star and personally, I think that is really ridiculous. So this title is a way to say something veiled to this funny world; it’s a bit like conceptual art!

T.H.E – Can we expect more tracks in this style from you in the future?

Doc Trashz – Music changes every day really fast, and my tastes changes even faster, maybe yes, maybe no – I don’t know! For sure there is a definite bridge from my last release to my next one.

T.H.E – Obviously many different artists influence people, but do you have any specific influences you think are noticeable in this release?

Doc Trashz – I have some different iconic names to follow every day that I add to who I’m following at moment. it’s like a pizza; you can change the taste but the base remains always the same! So my base is always Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, Soulwax, Tiga. And my tastes of the moment are Chris Lake, Riton, Malaa, to name just a few.

T.H.E – How long did it take to complete the tracks from start to finish?

Doc Trashz – I have a rule to not spend more than a month on a track, so this release took around three!

T.H.E – Do you have anything else in the pipeline for us at the moment?

Doc Trashz – Sure I’m already thinking about my next release, and also I’m preparing lots of other things. Sleep when you are dead.

T.H.E – Was there a specific moment you knew the tracks were finished or was it one that took a lot of time to perfect?

Doc Trashz – It’s always really hard to find perfection, and I’m not sure I ever will, but I always stop when I feel a track is happily complete.

T.H.E – Do you have a preference over what sound you produce, or does it happen naturally?

Doc Trashz – My only preference is to do something I can say is mine for real. We often forget music is an art form and it must be treated as such.

T.H.E – Finally, where can we find the track?

Doc Trashz – ‘Flop Star’ is out now on all digital stores and all streaming services, you can follow this link.
