Assia

Giolì & Assia have made names for themselves individually, with Giolì rising to prominence in the international electronic music scene at a very young age; DJing and producing live shows with drums and synths. Her career – albeit still premature – has seen her play alongside the likes of Loco Dice, Deborah DeLuca, Radio Slave, Franky Rizardo, Chris Lake, and more. Assia Nania, a good friend of Giolì’s, has been lending her voice to her intricate productions for the past year, much to the delight of their fans. Ever since the inception of their creative partnership they’ve set out to deliver a balanced mixture toeing the line of soothing classical, and house music vibes.

After teasing listeners this year with a series of pre-album singles, the duo finally released their debut LP – Instantanee.

We caught up with them and spoke about their touring plans, way forward for their label and loads more. Read our chat, below.

Valarie – Welcome, Giorgia Lipari & Assia Nania (aka Gioli & Assia). It’s a pleasure to have you both here.

Giolì & Assia – Thank you T.H.E -Music Essentials for being interested in us!

Valarie – You’re both Italian & have had success before coming together. You’ve known each other for a few years now, with Assia becoming not only your manager but also label/agency partner as well. What brought you together & how has the experience been?

Giolì & Assia – Yes, we work together from few years now, more than 3 years exactly. Since the first messages, we never stopped talking about our passion, ideas and life goals, and we discovered to have many things in common. During these years we had so many amazing experiences together and our bond became very strong and special. We travelled a lot in so many countries and made what we truly love: music.

Valarie – Your latest single “Far Away Roads”, is a brilliant song from your 10 track debut album titled ‘Istantanee’. Its name is inspired from the special times in your lives. Could you elaborate on that?

Giolì & Assia – Thanks, however not really. “Far Away Roads” is not inspired to our lives. We wrote it thinking about different life scenes, relationships and how it could be hard sometimes to face all life and love’s struggle.

Valarie – How have fans reacted to it?

Giolì & Assia – Our fans liked it, they sent us many messages and screenshots while listening to the track. It’s always a pleasure to receive their messages, because we can feel them closer to us.

Valarie – What are your plans for your label – Diesis Records, this year?

Giolì & Assia – We will release a lot of new artists during the summer. We also receive a lot of demos from all over the world, from America to Indonesia, Diesis is turning around everywhere. We’re very happy for this it means that we are working good on that. We would like to build a powerful brand and start different projects with Diesis, from a clothing line or a showcase for some tour. Still working on it!

Valarie – Any news of a tour, new projects, etc you would like to share with us?

Giolì & Assia – Yes, there will be a tour this summer. We’ll be in different festivals as the “Sea You Festival” in Germany with big names as Nina Kravitz, Adam Bayer, Ofenbach and so on. We’ll have also gigs in Hungary, Switzerland, Europe in general and in Spain especially. We’ll announce some news soon!
