Combining different genres to create his unique sound is what Grant Saxena does best.

‘Pursuit’ showcases this sound and Grant’s overall production pedigree, another example of his music which has found its way to the top of the Beatport charts multiple times. Releasing as a Beaport exclusive, ‘Pursuit’ is out now and so we caught up with Grant to learn a bit more about the track!

T.H.E – So, can you sum up the inspiration behind the name and why you chose it?

Grant Saxena – The inspiration for the title came from the feel of the song, pursuing dreams and a higher-level existence.

T.H.E – It’s a really forward thinking, banging track! Do you think you’ll be making more like this in the future?

Grant Saxena – Thank you for the kind feedback! Absolutely, plenty more tracks on the way this year…. so just stay tuned!

T.H.E – Do you have any particular influences you think are behind any elements of Pursuit?

Grant Saxena – There is a strong Tech and Electro vibe to the leads and bass line. The breakdown is more an expression of feelings and emotions through sound.

T.H.E – From start to finish, how long did the track take to make?

Grant Saxena – Only a couple of days!

T.H.E – This is a great way to start the New Year, are you ready to get working on more music for us? And can we have any hints of what to look forward to?

Grant Saxena – I appreciate the accolades. I’m in the lab every day working on new material. My next track ‘Spirals (Original Mix)’ drops April 6th on Digital Ruckus Records!

T.H.E – Was the project something that took a while to form as a whole, or did it work out easily?

Grant Saxena – Producing has developed into a fairly streamlined process in my studio. With this project, mixing and setting in the bass line and complextro elements took a bit of finesse. Finally, with all elements adding up well, mastering will take about 30 minutes to an hour!

T.H.E – Do you have a method to starting each track, and how did this one differ?

Grant Saxena – Usually I’ll start with a bass line and work into the breakdown. Composing, alternating and complimenting sections is a big part of my workflow.

T.H.E – Finally, where can we get our hands on the tune?

Grant Saxena – Pursuit is out for free on Soundcloud, with the full wav available on Beatport.
