Revered Colombian producer, DJ & songwriter Marcela A recently released her latest single, as she collaborates with Reign Write on Dimelo, a feel good record, with an underlying sun-drenched vibe.
Working on a number of artistic projects between her native homeland in Colombia, along with in the UK – her trademark sound traverses across Pop, Dance & Reggaeton / Latin music – bringing varying elements together with a cohesive & unique approach. ‘Dimelo’ is the second single that sees Marcela collaborate with singer/songwriter Reign Write & this time the pair explore a more accessible sound – whilst still retaining the identity & Latin influences Marcela’s well known for.
With the Tropical House remix hitting 400k streams on Spotify & an accompanying video that was shot on location in Miami, carrying over the summer vibes – also featured across the package are mixes that take ‘Dimelo’ in a different direction, whilst still staying true to the original. Each are set to light up a multitude of club floors & radio airwaves in the week head, stay tuned.
We caught up with Marcela A and spoke about ‘Dimelo’, amongst other topics. Read our chat below.
Valarie – Welcome Marcela A, it’s a pleasure to have you here.
Marcela A – Thank you very much! The pleasure is mine.
Valarie – As a revered producer with quite a history of releasing records, you are clearly no stranger to the industry. What was it like growing up in Colombia & the music scene there?
Marcela A – It was fantastic because I grew up with Latin music as well as mainstream. I’ve always been a Pop lover but Latin music is something that is in my blood.
Valarie – Your latest single ‘Dimelo’ is causing a stir out there & connecting very well at Spotify, what has your path been like on your musical journey?
Marcela A – It has been long and difficult at times, but with hard work, perseverance and discipline I’ve managed to create a product I’m fully proud of and in one I believe in 1000% and that people are receiving very well. ‘Dimelo’ is no.13 in the Music Week club charts in the UK this week, and that makes me very happy!
Valarie – The remix package for ‘Dimelo’ is diverse, what’s your favourite & why?
Marcela A – Thats a difficult question… But I would say the original radio edit or the Spanish remix featuring RedWine, a Cuban Reggaeton artist based in Miami.
Valarie – Do you have any other releases planned for the summer months?
Marcela A – The Spanish remix featuring RedWine will be out really soon! And it’s coming with a new video as well. I’m very excited!
Valarie – Who are the top 5 artists that have influenced you (past or present)?
Marcela A – Spice Girls definitely. Backstreet Boys, J Balvin, Maluma, Martin Garrix, Calvin Harris, Kygo, Daddy Yankee, Juan Luis Guerra, Justin Bieber (I’m sorry, 5 is too difficult).
Valarie – What has been the best piece of advice given to you?
Marcela A – Listen to your gut feeling.
Valarie – Any other plans across the remainder of 2018?
Marcela A – loads of writing and producing, and a new single!
Valarie – Thanks for taking time out to talk to us here at T.H.E – Music Essentials. It’s been an absolute pleasure Marcela A!
Marcela A – Thank you for having me!
