“This is the first time I feel like I can do anything. Music is my life, and this era is all about freedom and composing high quality electronic dance music without any compromises,” says PiMO.

PiMO embraces his journey as a solo artist with fluidity and expertise, presiding over all instrumentation, songwriting, production, mixing, mastering, cover artwork, and videos for every new release. It’s a responsibility he is ready to take on for his upcoming series of EPs, singles, and remixes which will all be available worldwide via PiMO MUSIC.

Check out our chat with the trailblazing electronic artist about his new single, background and his recipe for success.

Valarie – Welcome, PiMO! It’s a pleasure to have you here.

PiMO – Thank you very much for inviting me!

Valarie – You’re from Warsaw (Poland), brought up on music from an early age, how has that had an impact on your life and career?

PiMO – My parents loved music and there was always a wide variety of music playing in our house: rock, soul, funk, disco. Today I call it a free and comprehensive music education program. I’ve been extremely self conscious about my music taste since I was 10. Every last penny I had, I spent on music. By the age of 18, I had an extensive record collection. I felt that music brings me a sense of freedom. Also I had this feeling that I need to go even deeper into the music. So I started DJing in the clubs. As it turned out, it was the springboard for my production career. I can tell you that having such experience with different music, now as a producer I am not afraid to experiment with different genres.

Valarie – As a recent solo artist, your latest single “Bonus Beats” (a collection of three re-worked classics) sets the tone for the new year? How did the change of genre make the difference?

PiMO – It took me a while, but I’ve learned to trust my musical intuition. Bonus Beats is a new chapter in my musical career and I feel that finally I am doing my own thing. I hope I will be able to create releases that will evolve into something beyond just the concept of selling a song. Furthermore with each subsequent release I plan to reveal my production capabilities. I feel like I am just warming up ;).

Valarie – You’re known for your boundary pushing, creative live visual effects and dynamic performances, with a long-lasting career spanning 15 years. What has been your recipe for success?

PiMO – I don’t think there is one recipe for success. Some people achieve things through hard work or connections. Some just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I am simply guided by one basic principle – stay true to yourself. I believe that If you try to force things to happen, there’s a good chance it will feel contrived and unnatural. I try to release music that represents all of me. Otherwise I would not be honest with myself.

Valarie – You release most of your music on your own label, PiMO MUSIC, how did you choose to create your own label and why?

PiMO – I’ve always had full advantage over my music and took full responsibility for my decisions. PiMO MUSIC is like safe haven for my ideas where release schedule is based on my inspirations and not on the timetable delivered by the third party. It doesn’t mean an easier go of making a living because it’s still a business. But it’s important to have freedom of choice when scheduling, releasing and promoting your own work.

Valarie – You’re a well-established Producer, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced so far?

PiMO – Nowdays the music rarely defends itself. It’s always about the visibility and exposure. This applies to everyone. From the beginners to the well-established producers. No matter how good your music is without solid promotion plan it’s just a constant battle to get yourself exposed. That also applies to me.

Valarie – With tons of new material coming out this year, any chance of an album?

PiMO – My release plan for 2018 is based on singles. Here with each release I am trying to tell a different story. The truth is that I often think about putting out an album, but this requires a completely different state of mind especially when you are a big fan of concept albums. At the moment, I am focusing on my series of releases with my next single scheduled for June 14th, but I am sure there will come a right time, for an album.

Valarie – Is there any news you’d like to share with us? A tour? New projects?
