Continuing to rise as one of the leading lights in the music industry, Sam Feldt has fully emerged as one of the most exciting artists of recent times.
Releasing his debut album – Sunrise in October, Sam has already dropped the follow-up to it this month. Titled ‘Sunset’, the album was released on November 24, and features 12 tracks just like ‘Sunrise’.
We caught up with Sam and spoke to him about the album, his own company – Fanpage, and what would he do if he were invisible for a day! Check out our chat below.
T.H.E – Hey Sam! How’s it going, what have you been upto?
Sam Feldt – What’s up guys! First of all, thanks for having me. I’m in San Jose, California right now – preparing for my show at a big festival tonight. I’ve just played New York and Dallas together with the live band and I’ve just released my debut album.
T.H.E – Congratulations on the release of your album ‘Sunrise’. How have fans responded to it?
Sam Feldt – The response has been overwhelming! Both online and at the shows, the hype is enormous. People are singing along to a lot of the tracks even though they just came out!
T.H.E – ‘Sunrise’ was released this past October, and we heard that you have already dropped a follow-up album just now – ‘Sunset’. What can you tell us about this?
Sam Feldt – I am happy that I can now confirm that is 100% true, it has been a surprise until the release date. The full album “Sunrise to Sunset” has come out on the 24th of November and contains a total of 24 tracks.
T.H.E – ‘Sunrise’ and ‘Sunset’ are meant to complement each other with each album featuring 12 tracks, together forming 24 hours, which connotes an entire day. It’s an interesting concept, how did it come about?
Sam Feldt – For me, the 24 tracks on the album each stand for a specific hour of the day where the track was made for. One track could be perfect to put on in your car, driving to work at 9 AM and another track could be your pre-clubbing anthem that you put on at 11PM. This symbolizes the fact that Sam Feldt music can be enjoyed any time of the day, both during the hours of Sunrise and Sunset.
T.H.E – We hear that there are some interesting collaborations. An album is a very personal story. How do you manage to translate that same enthusiasm and energy onto a collaboration with a fellow artist?
Sam Feldt – If you look at the story of Sam Feldt, it has always been a story of collaborations – and I think that’s what makes the music so interesting. All of the artists I worked with on the album are personal favourites of mine and some of them even childhood heroes. So being able to work together with people that you admire only increases the enthausiasm overall to be honest.
T.H.E – Apart from a DJ/ Producer, you also own a company – Fangage, which is meant to bring fans and artists closer to each other. How did this come about?
Sam Feldt – Around two years ago, I was looking at my social media and I saw that I almost had 1 million fans combined over all platforms. I had, however, no idea who these people were or how I could reach them directly. The only option I had was paying large amounts of money to Facebook and Instagram in order to show my music to the people that already wanted to hear from me. For me, this was bizarre and kind of an eye opener. It was at that moment that I decided I had to create an independent platform for my fans where they could access all my content and where I could get personally in touch with them. After launching Heartfeldt.me, many other DJ’s followed and launched their Fangage portal – which proves to me that we are doing something right!
T.H.E – Are there any interesting stories you can share of fans that have gotten closer to their idols due to Fangage?
Sam Feldt – Definitely, a good example was the “Fangage Presents” pop-up session I hosted during Amsterdam Dance Event. Through Fangage, I was able to identify my Superfans that were attending ADE and invite them to a private listening session and meet and greet, hosted by Heineken. That was an amazing experience both for me and the fans, since we were able to get closer than ever before and actually have meaningful conversations. Also, they got the chance to hear my new album for the very first time!
T.H.E – Enough of serious talk, we have some fun questions for you now! If you could have personally witnessed anything, what would you want to have seen?

Sam Feldt – Hungary, because I love food.

T.H.E – What is the most embarrassing thing someone has caught you doing?
Sam Feldt – Can’t remember! Haha! Guess I’m not easily embarrassed!
