Trunks is the established DJ who is looking to make his mark on the EDM scene with his new productions. With his first release currently scheduled, we caught up with him to learn more about the artist behind the tunes!

T.H.E – Hey, how are you? And what’s going on in your world at the moment?

Trunks – Hey, I’m doing really well! I recently became a dad, so that has been the biggest thing going on in my life right now. It’s crazy how inspirational discovering the world with an infant can be.

T.H.E – Where are you currently based?

Trunks – I just moved back to LA after spending a year working on different music in Atlanta. The scene down there is really different and everyone has a unique sound.

T.H.E – How long have you been working in the Dance music scene? And how did it all start?

Trunks – I started about 5 years ago. At the time I had just started an internship at Dim Mak Records. While I was there I really fell in love with the entire sub genres of Dance music. Growing up in Atlanta, there weren’t many opportunities to be exposed to the Dance music since most of my friends were in to Southern Trap. So when I first heard it, it was kind of like my ears exploded with all the new possibilities of sound and I was instantly hooked.

T.H.E – How would you describe your sound?

Trunks – My sound is very trap based with Dubstep elements, but I tend to genre blend a lot; especially with my drum patterns. I was on the drum line as a kid so I tend to go back to my southern roots when it comes to creating the rhythm section of my tracks.

T.H.E – Who were your influences growing up?

Trunks – Growing up in Atlanta, I would have to say Outkast, T.I., Gucci Mane, Nappy Roots and Afrika Bambaattaa. As I got older and my music taste expanded, I would say Daft Punk, Skrillex, and Alesso.

T.H.E – What have been your career highlights so far?

Trunks – Getting a residency at the Hollywood Roosevelt. We had some amazing, crazy nights there. Playing at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego would also be a highlight of mine.

T.H.E – Where would you like to see yourself in the coming months?

Trunks – I’d really love to start getting on the festival circuit and to tour with other great DJ’s as well as see success with my E.P. coming out soon.

T.H.E – What’s your ultimate career dream?

Trunks – I’d say performing main stage at EDC would be my biggest dream. I feel like as a producer and DJ, performing at such a huge event really shows that you have succeeded in your craft!

T.H.E – Can you tell us about any upcoming releases and projects you’ve got lined up?

Trunks – The biggest project that I have been working on has been my 5 track Trap EP called “The Senzu Beans EP” which I plan on releasing soon. I also have an amazing single coming out called “When We Met” featuring a really talented artist named Bess Beckmann. It’s my first Future Bass track, so I’m excited for people to hear it.

T.H.E – Can you tell us something not many people know about Trunks?

Trunks – One thing a lot of people don’t know is that I’m adopted. I found out when I was 17 years old. It changed a lot in my life but now I’m close with both of my families. Everything happens for a reason.

T.H.E – Anything to add or shout outs?

Trunks – Yeah, shout out to my baby boy Anthony who just turned 4 months. You’re the truth, Ant-man!
