We caught up with Kid Eternal to discuss his infectious new single, ‘Love Goes Down’ and plans for the future!

T.H.E – Hi Kid Eternal – thanks for joining us today & welcome to T.H.E Music Essentials! Can you introduce yourself to our readers & share some insight about your journey into the music industry?

Kid Eternal – Hi! I’m Kid Eternal or ‘K.E.’ as some of my mates call me.

Thanks so much for having me. I love your blog for keeping updated on music so it’s really cool to be part of the conversation. 

My journey into the music industry has been insane! I didn’t know what I wanted to do as recently as 2 years ago. I had been a songwriter for a little while and not really having much luck getting my songs to singers. I also did some production and mixing work but with the pandemic, I couldn’t really get into sessions to co-write with people. So, it kind of forced me to look at myself as an artist and decide to focus on my own music properly. I started to really work on developing my sound as an artist and how I wanted my music to come across so that’s what I did.

I’ve always had huge love and respect for dance music since I was a kid. DJ’s like David Guetta, Calvin Harris and the late great Avicii are my inspirations. They use dance music to bring people together with songs that have a strong uplifting message and that’s what I’m after…good vibes only!  I wrote my first album during the lockdown and started working on production of it and can’t wait to share that next year.

T.H.E – Congrats on your new single, ‘Love Goes Down’ – can you tell us about your inspiration for the project/sound?

Kid Eternal – Thank you! ‘Love Goes Down’ is the first song from the album. I wrote it almost two years ago now so it’s one of the older tracks you’ll hear on the LP which mainly features the newer songs I wrote while we were all in lockdown the past 18 months.

‘Love Goes Down’ is just a happy song. There’s no big story per se behind it except a universal story of being in love and the adrenalin that gives especially in the early stages of a relationship. We’ve all been there hopefully….

Well, maybe it had some inspiration from falling for someone for the first time ages ago but those type relationship aren’t serious when you’re younger, foolish and just having fun so I won’t really say much after that. ha

For the production sound, I wanted it to feel as uplifting as those positive feelings you get with love. I’m generally an optimist and think that comes through in my music and sound. I’m always pushing the sound to be more uplifting and to have a real emotional connection with the way the vocalist is singing and ultimately with anyone who’s listening to the record… so I hope that’s what comes across. 

T.H.E – We’re really digging the feel good vibe of ‘Love Goes Down’ and judging by the early traction on streaming platforms, we’re not the only ones! In your opinion, what’s making the release cut through the noise?

Kid Eternal – Thank You! The streaming response has been insane! Still not sunk in yet but I’m really grateful for all the love the track is getting.

Not sure I know exactly why but maybe because we’ve all come out of a long, depressing time with lockdown and people just need something positive and uplifting to connect with. Something that gives a bit of hope maybe….

I personally don’t think there’s a more inviting genre of music than Dance or Dance-pop to uplift and bring people together in a way that they can dance, be free, forget the mess of the pandemic and just reconnect. I love that about Dance/House music and now that live circuit is starting to open up again, happy days! Hope we can all connect in a safe way as lockdown eases up.

T.H.E – What’s your favourite part about being an artist & has there been a stand out moment or achievement in your career, that you feel most proud of to date?

Kid Eternal – Not sure… I love so many aspects about being an artist. It’s insane to me how something I think of in my head….be it a melody or concept or song, can become this thing that a lot of people relate to. If it gives anyone hope or happiness that’s a win for me and the greatest achievement so far!

I’m still at the very start of my career without much experience in being an artist so I hope to have more achievements with time but for now, I’m thankful to just be here and talking to blogs like you, sharing music I make in my bedroom and having a few laughs along the way. 

T.H.E – Could you describe in three words for us, Kid Eternal’s signature sound?

Kid Eternal – Uplifting. Emotions. Authentic.

T.H.E – What was one of the best shows you’ve attended & what made it so special?

Kid Eternal – David Guetta, Tomorrowland 2018 set. The atmosphere and stage production were just insane! Everyone was lost in the music and vibing off him in a real way. It was next level. I hope someday my music can give people that same feeling.

T.H.E – And finally, looking ahead into the remainder of 2021 and beyond – what’s next in the pipeline for Kid Eternal, any exclusive news you can share with us?

Kid Eternal – Right now, I’m polishing up some new music and finishing production of the tracks on my album. Some collaborations with some really cool vocalists are in the works as well, so that’s exciting.

Also fine-tuning my next release right now and I can tell you it will be coming out sometime in November hopefully. Then I’ll have a few more releases next year before the album drops after the summer. Can’t wait for that.

Not sure how it will go but I hope people find connection and escape with the music and album when it drops. Thanks for having me.
