19-year-old Italian producer Kina recently released a brand new remix of his breakout single “Get You The Moon”, with SNOW.

We sat down with Kina, and understood how this collaboration came about, and how he became a music producer.

T.H.E – How did the collab between you and SNOW come about?

Kina – I listened to a few of his covers on YouTube and I really liked his voice right away, plus his mood is identical to mine, so I tried to get in touch with him and we chat a bit and tried a few melodies until Get You The Moon arrived!

T.H.E – What are your plans for the summer? Any shows or new releases?

Kina – School is over, at last, so I’m ready to be locked up in the studio with other artists and be focused on music only, 100%.

T.H.E – Kina, is an interesting name! How did you come up with it?

Kina – I couldn’t wait to share my tracks and my creativity in music and I didn’t really care too much about a name: I just asked my best friend the first cool name he could think of, and he came up with Kina, and the rest is history. I like it, because it’s brief and sounds good, both in Italian and in English. Everybody can pronounce it with no stress… :-)

T.H.E – You collaborated with JonJon on the “Get you The Moon” video, was there a particular reason you chose him?

Kina – I picked JonJon because I saw in his “anime” style the story I had in mind for GYTM and as a matter of fact, the video is beautiful, just right for the song. JonJon is a real pro, very dedicated and he could feel and realize my ideas right away.

T.H.E – From the video, I would take a guess that you’re into animation or anime. What’s your favourite show/why?

Kina – That’s true! If I had to pick one single anime, I would pick the great DragonBall Z. When I was a little kid, I used to come home from school every day and snatch the remote control from my father’s hands to watch the adventures of Goku and friends.

T.H.E – When did you realise that you wanted to pursue a career in music and how did you get into it?

Kina – Since when I was young I always wanted to express my feelings through music because I’ve always been very shy, so I tried to let the music speak in my place. I had quite a few other musical projects before Kina and I started producing since I was very very young. I remember I used to watch Fruity Loops Studio tutorials on YouTube because I really wanted to use that software as fasts I could. A couple of years ago I started releasing some beats under the name Kina and I almost immediately got good feedback from many people… Especially from curators just like TheBootlegBoy or nourish on Youtube. Then, one day, I was playing with the Xbox and I got an email from Sony Columbia, I drop the pad and remain silent for quite a long time, staring at the email… I was in disbelief… The secret to getting into the music business is perseverance and I must admit that I got onto this train, the most important one, because I missed other trains, because I made the right choices.

T.H.E – If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?

Kina – Billie Eilish. I think there’s no better artist for my instrumentals, we basically have the same mood and same approach. I would be great to hear what we could do together.

T.H.E – In your spare time other than making great music, what do you enjoy doing?

Kina – In my spare time, I love driving in my car and see new places. That’s where I find new inspirations for my music. To see new things and places is the best and fastest way to have new ideas.

T.H.E – Who are your biggest inspirations?

Kina – Dr.Dre, Skrillex & Diplo. I have to thank them if I got so close to music.

Keep an eye out for Kina, here.
