From songwriters to artists and super-fans to superstars, electronic dance music’s first sisters – Mim and Liv NERVO of NERVO – have catapulted onto the international stage, straight from the pit in front of it. These multi-talented DJ dynamos are the all-time top-ranking female DJs in the world, voted by their millions of fans to No. 21 on DJ Magazine’s influential 2014 ‘Top 100 DJs’ poll.
With a big profile in the dance music industry comes a lot of fan following. A lot of fans do not get the opportunity to speak to their favourite artists. We want to give them that chance, hence we have started, “T.H.E Ultimate Fan Interview”, where we select one die-hard fan and give him/her the opportunity to ask their favourite artists about everything they have always wanted to know.
Anyone who follows the NERVO sisters would know the massive fan following that always seems to follow them wherever they go. When it comes to NERVO, we did quite a bit of a research and found the perfect fan that we wanted to be a part of our ‘T.H.E Ultimate Fan Interview’ series – Laura Molisho!
Here’s what she had to say,
“My reaction when I first found out I would get the opportunity to interview two of the most inspirational, talented and amazing women in the electronic music industry….floored! Not to mention that they are my idols, I have them as my wallpaper on my laptop, my screensaver on my phone, all cover photos on all of my social medias!
Seriously, I could not have asked for anything greater than this! I fell in love with NERVO after their sensational “Irresistible” track caught my attention and ever since then I just couldn’t get enough of these girls. My ultimate dream of course is to meet them, but this is close enough. I get to ask them questions and they respond to MY questions…what’s better than that?
I am truly honored that I was selected to get this opportunity, I really cannot contain my excitement! There are thousands of fans that would die for this I think, so this is big. Only a few fans out of thousands get the opportunity to either meet their heroes or get a simple response from them via social media platform. To be able to interact with the girls this personally is more than any fan could ever ask for. They are truly my inspiration, I love them and i aspire to be big and pursue my dreams too. With their success in such a male-dominated industry, they show so many girls, in fact any person out there, that it doesn’t matter if you feel like you’re not “right” for something or that you won’t make it because of certain ‘restrictions’, determination and hard work will always prevail. I’d like to thank T.H.E – Music Essentials for picking me and allowing me this once in a lifetime award…it truly does feel like that, an award. Thank you!”

Laura – Hello! Thanks a ton for this opportunity. Can’t put it in words of how much this means to me. :)
NERVO – Of course no probs!
Laura – Being sisters, I would love to know the experience of working together. Do you Guys bicker a lot like most siblings?
NERVO – Yes of course we bicker like all normal sisters but at the end of the day we are super close and we get on really well. We have the same work ethic and we both love what we do so we couldn’t imagine not working together.
Laura – “Irresistible” is arguably my favourite production by you Guys. If you had to pick a favourite “throwback” track of yours, which one would it be?
NERVO – Awesome – thanks for the compliment! We really love Irresistible as well. And also maybe This Kind Of Love which featured the same vocalist – Olly James. We made those tracks almost 6 years ago now. Wow time flies!
Laura – Tell us the inspiration behind the track, “Hold On”. How did it come about?
NERVO – Sonically, the track was inspired by what we felt was working in our sets at the time. The lyrics were inspired by a real life break up where Liv didn’t want to let go of an ex. She’s over that now though :)
Laura – With the ever evolving dance music scene, how hard is to keep your authenticity but still give fans/listeners what “they want”.
NERVO – It’s a fine balance between making music that we love, making music that we know will work in our sets and then also making music that pushes boundaries. It’s not always easy getting there but it’s super satisfying once we deliver a track that we’re proud of and it’s amazing to see it come to life with a music video or once it is on an album.
Laura – Love that you interact with your fans, as that is extremely important. What has been the weirdest thing that you have seen or received from a fan?
NERVO – We receive so many incredible presents from our fans, everything from custom made pizza earings to our favourite chewy gum. Our fans really know who we are and give us so much support. We’re eternally grateful!
Laura – One word to describe the feeling after the success of “When Loves Takes Over”.
Nervo – A relief. We had been working so hard and were holding out for a lucky break.
Laura – You have visited South Africa a few times, what’s been your most favourite place to see there? And tried any unique South African dishes? Is there a chance you will bless Ultra South Africa with your incredible talent?
NERVO – Yes! We are working on coming back by the end of this year. We’re literally obsessed with SA. The air smells so fresh over there. The quality of food is higher than anywhere else. You guys have a gorgeous country. We can’t wait to come back and explore some more!
Laura – You’re both absolute stunners – obviously! Any plans to eventually get married or settle down?
NERVO – Yes for sure. We’re always on the look out for that someone special but we’re also very happy with our current lives and dating situation. What will be will be – the universe will look after us!
