With a remarkable catalogue of chart-topping records clocked on some of the biggest labels in the business, platinum-selling Swiss artist Mike Candys has become something of a force to be reckoned with over the course of his illustrious decade-long career.

Now, and with two huge singles under his belt already this year in the form of Darkness and Wellerman, the über-talented masked producer continues his impressive run of 2021 form with the announcement of his next huge single All My Friends.

Out now via esteemed Swiss imprint and Sirup Music subsidiary S2 Records, All My Friends sees Candys pull out all the stops once again, for what is arguably one of the biggest records of his career to date. A melodic high-octane future rave anthem brimming with syncopated big-room synths, deep basslines and frenetic percussion across its duration, this is Mike Candys at his very best.

We caught up with Mike to discuss the new single, his long relationship with Sirup Music and plans for the rest of 2021.

T.H.E – Hey Mike! Welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials. How has 2021 kicked off for you?

Mike Candys – I was very excited that 2 of my releases from December 2020 totally exploded in January on Spotify. That gave me a lot of motivation to work even harder in the studio. Unfortunately it doesn’t look good for the shows this year. I got some requests for festivals in summer, but nobody knows if they will happen.

T.H.E – Tell us a bit about how you got into electronic music. What were your earliest music influences?

Mike Candys – My first and probably most important influences were Italo Disco from the 80s and Acid House from the late 80s/90s. In the mid 1980s I bought myself my first Synthesizer and a Roland Drumcomputer and so it all started with the EDM producing.

T.H.E – Talk us through your new single on EDX’s Sirup Music imprint titled, “All My Friends”. How long has it been in the works?

Mike Candys – Since few months I was thinking about combining the upcoming Future Rave style with my successful signature Electro House of the last years. I tried some things and ended up basically with the overall drums and basslines similar to my recent tracks and added some Techno/Rave elements to it. The overall process took about 2 months.

T.H.E – How was it working with Sirup Music on the release?

Mike Candys – I’m releasing my tracks on Sirup Music since more than 10 years. I know the team and they know me. So technically there’s not a lot of talking and definitely more action when it comes to my releases. I show them my stuff and they (normally) just set up the release. Sometimes a little bit of A&R input is needed when I get stuck in my projects. “All My Friends” was green-lighted immediately.

T.H.E – What does the rest of 2021 look like?

Mike Candys – Since there’s not gonna be a lot of shows this year due to the restrictions, I’m definitely gonna spend a lot of time in my studio. Got some collabs coming up, cause it’s important to not keep touch with all my friends out there :)
