We caught up with O Cinnedi with a series of quickfire questions to find out more about her:

T.H.E – Best artist in the world?

O Cinnedi  – I have always found this a tough question because there are so many artists I can think of on this list. For me I would say I think the most influential artist would be Lady Gaga. I spent a lot of time learning about her this year. Her hardships and also how she is able to be her authentic self, but through every album and song to bring a very interesting look and idea to what she does. I really like her way of thinking and also, she has no problem opening up about her issues and how things in her life have not been so easy.

T.H.E – How long have you been making music?

O Cinnedi  – Since I was 17, I am 22 now. I started off with rap and pop beats and I moved into working in electronic music, but I felt it was actually a huge transition for me, because of how intricate electronic music actually is. I think electronic is actually something that can take a lot of time to learn how to make, and it has an importance in a sense on making sure you fully understand how to sound design, mix and master.

T.H.E – Favourite genre of music?

O Cinnedi  – Dubstep of course, but I also love techno and tech house. I also really enjoy 2010 pop music and have a huge love for Celtic music.

T.H.E – Where do your influences come from?

O Cinnedi  – Deadmaus, Lady Gaga, Rezz, Skrillex, Waakan Label and Kannibelon. I also find I have a lot of influence with cinematic horror movies. I find my music really connects to this sound.

T.H.E – Describe your music in 3 words

O Cinnedi  – Sinful, Ethereal, Cinematic

T.H.E – Best studio equipment?

O Cinnedi  – Having a balanced room to work on music in is key for mixing and mastering, but I also learned that the best studio equipment to have is literally a laptop. It is really all you need to start producing music or learning how to DJ.

T.H.E – Worst habit?

O Cinnedi  – I spent four years of my life not being as confident as I am now, and I also did not believe in myself enough as an artist. I really am making sure I never allow that to affect me again. I also for a long time was super open to allowing people in a sense to walk all over me. I had for a long time lost a lot of precious time also caring what others thought of me over loving myself and I 100% will not go through this again.

T.H.E – Biggest career achievement?

O Cinnedi  – I have definitely gained some amazing public accolades, but I do find the biggest one for me is really homing in my DJ skills. I do use CDJS but I also like using my controller in a sense having the capability to use my own drum pads and being able to add different samples and sounds to my sets. I also think being able to make a really cool performance is another part I am really proud of. Also performing at Shambahla on my 21st birthday four times was pretty awesome.

T.H.E – Best DJ you have ever seen live?

O Cinnedi  – Kaskade at Shambahla at Pagoda Set, and also Rezz at a really small personal festival. Life changing sets for me.

T.H.E – Best piece of advice you have received?

O Cinnedi  – The moment you start getting people in a sense “hating” on you or in a sense bullying you online … you made it. No, but seriously if you have the capability to sit down and be able to take peoples differing opinions and have the capability to learn from it and also be strong with it you will be successful. Not everyone is going to be nice to you in this industry, and not everyone is going to have your best interest. Protect your energy and also choose your time wisely.
