Saint Müsik interview

Saint Müsik touches back down with another sublime cut, ‘Take My Hand’ – a captivating slice of vocal-driven, progressive dance goodness.

Hot off the back of ‘Yesterday’ which lit up globally – this time, it’s the turn of his new single ‘Take My Hand’.

Encompassing much of what’s becoming Saint Müsik’s trademark production sound, ‘Take My Hand’ is an uplifting & feel good slice of electronica, with deep, melancholic vocals that warm the soul. A record that continues to set out the musical agenda, for the New York-based artist.

Check out our chat where Saint Müsik talks about their new single, their sound, and plans for 2019.

T.H.E – Welcome to The Music Essentials, Saint Müsik! Tell us about your new single ‘Take My Hand’ and how it came about.

Saint Müsik – Originally, the vocals were pitched to Martin Garrix for a vocal version for one of his tracks, but management never agreed. So, we went ahead and created an old school House vibe. Something that would be uplifting and at the same time, not so overbearing.

T.H.E – How did your artist name ‘Saint Müsik’ come to being and what does it mean?

Saint Müsik – We wanted to create a fun name that was bold yet comical at the same time. Essentially, it piggybacks on the idea that there is a Saint of Music.

T.H.E – You’re based in New York. How has the city influenced your journey musically, as a producer & artist?

Saint Müsik – Not so much to be honest. I am from Greece and living in New York so culturally I have been immersed in all different styles of music; same holds for the other music partner. NYC is extremely inspiring but the best in the game have come from the Netherlands and UK but enjoy the NYC nightlife. Our style lyrically and musically pulls from European culture.

T.H.E – How would you define your sound?

Saint Müsik – Our sound is mainly based off of three principles: touching lyrics, melodic baselines, and unconventional arrangements. Our music is a mix of club and chill music; it rests somewhere in the middle of that. We want the listener to say, “that was a good song” a song that can be played to everyone and not a one-way genre.

T.H.E – What are some of the most difficult challenges you have faced to date?

Saint Müsik – The biggest challenge was fitting in. But after you have grown thicker skin you realize that if you do you, then the rest will follow. No one needs to like you, it’s a personal taste, embrace it. It is not about trying to sound like someone else or simply copying the methods. At the start, we had great support from Klaas and some German labels that gave us a chance. Other big names have also mentored us and listened to our work which instilled confidence.

T.H.E – In today’s day and age, how much importance do you place on social media, in reaching out to your fans?

Saint Müsik – Being active on social media is definitely a plus; you have the widest reach from your armchair, but, they need something to follow. So, you need to get out there physically before you can really develop a social presence.

T.H.E – Lastly, what can you tell us about your plans for the remainder of 2019? Any other singles we should also keep an eye out on?

Saint Müsik – We are releasing five new tracks and working on new ones after that. The next five are mainly experimental and are excited to really tune our sound for the upcoming releases. We are really excited about “Forever” which will drop the 15th of February and then “Sahara” a middle eastern focused dance track.

T.H.E – Thanks for joining us, Saint Müsik!
