Excited to learn more about this new release plus Sisko Electrofanatik’s other projects, we invited him in for this interview…

Aditya – Hi Sisko, it’s great to be talking with you today. Where are you currently living, and has the local club scene started to open up again after the pandemic?

Sisko – Hello!! So, I’m living in Rome and here the local club scene is starting to open again with some restrictions, but I hope it will safely come back to normality before the summer.

Aditya – Could you start by giving a bit of background on your music style, how would you describe your sound?

Sisko – My sound is “electrofanatik” lol. On a more serious note, my music style is all about techno. I like to produce and play styles that range from peak time/mainstream through to stuff that’s more underground/raw. Sometimes, I also play progressive/melodic stuff, as I love the different sounds and styles of electronic music in general.

Aditya – 2021 was a year where you had a few top-selling tracks on sited like Beatport, could you list some of the ones you are most proud of?

Sisko – Yes, last year was awesome for my productions and released, many tracks and remixes reached the top 10 inside Beatport’s top selling techno chart. First was my remix for Sam WOLFE “The Gorge” that came out on Phobiq and placed No.6. “Only One” released on my label Gain Records was No.2 in the main techno chart and No.1 in the website’s techno hype chart. Following that, my track “Osiris” released on Spartaque’s Codex placed on No.2 in the main techno chart, and my collaboration with Stiv Hey on AnalyticTrail ranked on No.7 in the main techno chart, plus No.1 in the techno hype chart.

Aditya – Let’s talk about your latest release on Markantonio’s AnalyticTrail, could you talk me through the original track and its concept?

Sisko – This track is a project I’ve been working on since 2018, but the first idea was just the Instrumental version. One day I was playing around in studio with the acapella from C’hantal “The Realm”, and for an experiment I added it to the instrumental I’d been working on, as it had some space that I thought could be filled by a vocal. The vocal really worked, and gave it a lot more impact, so I tested as part of my set at the Timeless Music Festival in 2019. I played it as the first track of my set, and it got a great crowd response, so I sent the track to AnalyticTrail, and they loved the track.

Aditya – There is also a remix on the EP by Hanubis, what do you think of this rework, and did you have any influence on the choice of remix artist?

Sisko – It’s a real bomb remix! Me and the guys at the label were thinking to release the track including a remix that’s darker, and more raw, so together we picked an artist from the AnalyticTrail roster/back catalogue that we thought could complete the mission!

Aditya – Is this your first time working with AnalyticTrail, and how did you first make contact with the guys at the label?

Sisko – It’s my 4th release on AnalyticTrail, and I’ve been in contact with the staff there for a long time. I first met Markantonio and the label manager Antonio at a festival where we both played on the same stage.

Aditya – Talking of record labels, how are things going with your own Gain Records?

Sisko – Very good! We are super happy because we have a full catalogue on both labels, as in March 2021 I also launched a sister label called “Gain Plus”. We have featured music from artists including T78, Fatima Hajji, Lowshape, Loco & Jam, Luca Morris, Mozzy Rekorder, Dok & Martin, Pablo Say, Joy Kitikonti and many more. Every release has been reaching the Beatport charts, and over the 9 years that the label has been running, it’s received DJ support by people ranging from Adam Beyer to Carl Cox. This year we hit the landmark 300th release, and we have also been putting out the Gain Vinyl series that’s currently available to all main stores.

Aditya – Has your gig schedule looking, and do you have any other new releases forthcoming?

Sisko – Yes, with the re-opening of the clubs, I’ve received many new booking requests.

My postponed gigs have also started to be rescheduled again, I have some here in Italy for the spring/summer, and some in North Europe also to be announced soon.

In terms of my releases, in April I will be dropping my debut EP on the Cosmic Boys’ label Legend Audio, which is collaboration with Lowshape. Then I have some remixes coming out on my own labels, plus one I did for BluFin. In the summer I’ll be announcing the release date for my first ever album, which is something I’m really excited about.

Aditya – Thanks for taking the time to chat today, is there anything else you would like to add before we finish?

Sisko – “We are what we play”
