0

Hailing from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Ferry Corsten’s lustrous career is exemplified by a passion for music that began as a hobby and spiraled into a full-blown profession.

Today, as it was in the beginning, Corsten’s skills lie in his ability to coax the maximum emotional impact from electronic dance music of all genres, not just trance, but also progressive-house and electro. He remains and has always been ahead-of-his time, making music that becomes a template for others to follow.

December will see Ferry Corsten debut his ‘Full On’ concept in India, at the Bacardi Enchanted Valley Carnival 2015. The ‘Full On’ concept includes a stage programmed by Ferry himself, featuring artists like RAM and Alex M.O.R.P.H.

We caught up with Ferry and spoke about the ‘Full On’ concept, his thoughts on the Bacardi Enchanted Valley Carnival festival, his top 5 tunes of the moment and also his formula to #StayEnchanted! Have a read! :)

Akshay – Hi Ferry! Thanks for taking this interview. How’s it going?

Ferry – Hi Man! I’m doing good thanks! It’s been a grueling summer with a lot of travelling and playing but I’m having a great time and lucky to have had a good one.

Akshay – You have visited India in the past. What do you feel about the dance music scene here?

Ferry – The Indian scene is getting bigger and bigger. For a country with such a large population it’s great to see how a lot of people over there are getting into the dance music scene. Every year I come back, it gets better and better!

Akshay – The word is out, ‘FULL ON’ stage programmed by you will be making its presence felt for the very first time in India at the all new BEVC this year! For those who are not familiar with this concept, how would you describe ‘FULL ON’? What can fans who will be visiting BEVC 2015 expect from the ‘FULL ON’ stage?

Ferry – Full On is concept where I host the stage and invited various DJs to play their set. With every one of them I play a short back to back with them at the end of their set. By doing this, we create the feel of an old school jam session and bring in a great element of surprise.

Akshay – Any fond memories to share from your previous visits to India?

Ferry – I’ll always remember the first time I went to India a few years back. I definitely was shocked to see many cows walking around freely on the streets until I learned about it’s importance in your religion and culture. The food was of course amazing and the people were fantastic. I look forward every time I get the chance to go back.

Akshay – Coming to BEVC 2015, as a music festival, the concept of BEVC is pretty unique. It goes beyond just music with camping and adventure opportunities, thus making it the largest camping festival in India. What are your thoughts about this?

Ferry – I love BEVC. I remember coming to the festival last year and fell in love with the beautiful nature that surrounds the festival. What an amazing setting for a beautiful party.

Akshay – Here’s a fun question for you: Are you a camping/adventure guy? If yes, which adventure activities do you like? And what would be the 5 must carry essentials you would definitely carry for a camping/adventure trip.

Ferry – I’m definitely an adventure type of guy. I’ve always told myself that one day when I have more time to spare, I would love to walk the Himalayas or go on one of those hiking/adventure trips that include white water rafting, repelling off a cliff…something like that. I’m not much of a camper when it comes to camping at a camping site. I much more prefer camping out in the wilderness.

5 essentials:

1. Good hiking shoes

2. Satellite telephone

3. Portable shower cabin with toilet paper

4. Blow up sauna

5. Michellin star chef

If I could add a sixth, a masseuse would be nice to ;)

Akshay – Lastly, your 5 essential tunes of the moment.

Ferry –

Gouryella – Anahera

Dimension – Moments

Andrew Bayer – Superhuman

Ron Alperin – Shredder

Stephen Kirkwood – Puma

Akshay – Thanks Ferry! See you at BEVC 2015 and wish you the very best with your ‘FULL ON’ concept. :)

Ferry – Thank you as well. Can’t wait to see you all!
