Some songs take ages to perfect, to get to the point where it reflects the artist’s musical direction and delivers the vibe and feel that its creator envisioned.

Such is the case with Zack Martino and singer-songwriter Lenii’s ‘Crave U’, which had been in the making for a whopping seven years until Zack Martino saw the record take shape during his live masterclass for Armada University, Armada Music’s online producer platform. And today, that single has finally come to see its release on Armada Music.

We caught up with Zack to speak about “Crave U”, and his highlights of 2019.

T.H.E – Hey Zack! Welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials. How has 2019 been for you overall?

Zack Martino – Its been such an amazing year full of touring and releases! So many new faces at the shows and meeting so many new people! I’m so ready for 2020 😊

T.H.E – If you had to share your top 3 moments of 2019, what would they be?

Zack Martino – Top 3 moments would be when Mood was debuted on a huge billboard in Times Square. That was a dream come true for me. Playing Bal en Blanc festival with my friends Gareth & Armin was an incredible experience. Also getting to experience my first show & writing sessions for 2 weeks in Amsterdam was another amazing experience can’t wait to be back!

T.H.E – You are releasing “Crave U” today. Is this the last track of the year for you?

Zack Martino – Yup, This is the last release of 2019, I’m really pumped for everyone to hear this one. To me it feels like the perfect follow up to Mood 😊

T.H.E – How did the track come about? When did you begin working on it?

Zack Martino – Me & Lenii started working on Crave U back in 2015, But never got around to finishing the project. One day in Amsterdam during my Armada University masterclass I reworked the whole record.

T.H.E – Your productions have really kicked up a notch this year. What would you say has changed in how you approached them last year and this?

Zack Martino – This year I wanted to go back to my House roots and continue making the music that made me fall in love with dance music in the first place. House always had a special place in my heart since I was 14 years old going to Pacha NYC to see my favorite DJs.

T.H.E – What are some of your favourite artists to listen to, when you aren’t DJing or producing music?

Zack Martino – My favorite artists at the moment are YungBlud, Blackbear. In the EDM world I love MK, Calvin Harris, Duke Dumont… I can go on and on lol

T.H.E – Lastly, what goals have you outlined for yourself in 2020?

Zack Martino – I have my first EP Scheduled for 2020 along with a lot of Touring! I’m so excited to see everyone and release all of this new music 😊

T.H.E – Thanks Zack!
