
2025 IRS Advisory Council Announced: Here’s the New Lineup
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has unveiled its 2025 IRS Advisory Council (IRSAC), appointing 18 new members to serve three-year terms.
The IRSAC serves as a crucial platform for discussion on tax administration issues, providing feedback, observations, and recommendations to agency leaders.
Established in 1953, the council represents diverse sectors, including the taxpaying public, tax professionals, small and large businesses, tax-exempt organizations, and government entities. The council’s annual report is set to be submitted in November 2025 during a public meeting.
Leadership and Appointments
Christine Freeland, a seasoned tax professional, will serve as the 2025 IRSAC Chair. Based in Chandler, Arizona, Freeland is the president of Christine Z. Freeland, CPA PC. Her extensive experience includes serving as president of the National Society of Accountants and presenting at IRS Nationwide Tax Forums. Freeland has also played an integral role in promoting tax security awareness and conducting educational events for tax professionals.
