Are Post Offices Open on MLK Day? Will Mail Be Delivered?

All U.S. Postal Service (USPS) post offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. Mail delivery, including packages, will also be suspended. Regular services will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Are Banks Open on MLK Day?

Major banks, such as Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase, PNC, Capital One, CitiBank, and Truist, will close their branches for MLK Day. Customers can still access online banking and ATMs for essential transactions.

Is the Stock Market Open on MLK Day?

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Regular trading will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Are UPS and FedEx Open on MLK Day?

  • UPS: Regular pickup and delivery services will be unavailable on Jan. 20, and some UPS Store locations may be closed. Check with your local store for specific hours. For urgent shipments, UPS Express Critical service is available 365 days a year (Contact: 1-800-714-8779).
  • FedEx: Some pickup and delivery services may be available on Jan. 20, and FedEx Office locations are expected to remain open. Confirm hours with your local branch. FedEx Custom Critical is also operational year-round (Contact: 1-800-762-3787).

What Else Should You Know?

Government offices, schools, and many financial institutions will be closed, but most retail stores, restaurants, and grocery stores will operate on regular schedules. Plan ahead to avoid inconvenience.
