Millions of granola bars are being pulled from store shelves after the FDA upgraded its recall of MadeGood granola bars due to the risk of metal contamination.
If you’ve purchased granola bars from Target, Whole Foods, or Amazon recently, you might want to take a closer look.
The FDA initially recalled 2.4 million cases of MadeGood granola bars back in December 2024, but the situation has escalated. The recall has now been classified as a Class II recall, meaning consumption could lead to “adverse health effects.”
What’s Wrong with the Granola Bars?
According to Riverside Natural Foods, Inc., which manufactures MadeGood products, certain batches of granola bars made between January and November 2024 may contain metal fragments.
While no injuries have been reported so far, the company is urging customers to return any affected products immediately.
Which Flavors Are Affected?
If you have any of the following flavors in your home, stop eating them and return them for a full refund:
- Chocolate Chip
- Strawberry
- Mixed Berry
- Cookies & Creme
What Should You Do?
MadeGood advises consumers to return the recalled granola bars to the store where they purchased them for a full refund. The retailer will properly dispose of the affected products.
The company has identified and corrected the issue, assuring customers that future products will be safe.
