Girl Scouts Cookies Retired for 2025 Include Fan Favorites

Girl Scouts Retire Two Cookie Flavors Amid Price Hikes

The Girl Scouts of the USA have just announced that two beloved cookie flavors, S’mores and Toast-Yay!, will be discontinued after this season.

These join the already retired “Raspberry Rally” flavor. Fans of these cookies are stocking up, knowing this is their final chance to enjoy them.

Why Are the Cookies Being Retired?

Though GSUSA didn’t cite a specific reason for discontinuing those flavors, the organization often refreshes its lineup. The discontinued flavors include S’mores, which was introduced in 2017, and Toast-Yay!, inspired by French toast, that came out in 2021.

Cookie Prices Keep Rising

Girl Scout cookie lovers can also expect to pay more for the treats this year. The price per box could go as high as $7 in some areas, up from the $6 charged in recent years. Specialty cookies-such as gluten-free-will likely cost even more because of the production process.

The last price hike was in 2023 when the boxes went from $5 to $6. Before that, the price had stood at $4 from 2015 through 2023. GSUSA cited rising production and material costs as the reason for the increases.

Membership Fees Also Going Up

The Girl Scouts aren’t just increasing the prices of cookies. The membership fees will jump significantly in the next several years. The National Council had voted to raise annual dues to $45 in 2026 and $65 in 2027. It will offset the projected operating losses expected to reach $5.6 million in 2024.

Currently, membership dues are the largest source of revenue for the organization, bringing in $38 million in 2023 from almost 2 million members. Even as these have grown, GSUSA continues to operate on shaky financial ground, supplemented by additional philanthropy and licensing deals.

When Can You Buy Girl Scout Cookies?

Cookie sales begin this week at local booths, while online sales start Feb. 21 and continue through April. Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs remain part of the lineup, meaning plenty of fan favorites are still on offer.

See more information on the official Girl Scouts website, and support your local troops this cookie season!
