- Find the Portal: Every match, a special Godzilla portal might spawn. The location is randomized, so be sure to check your map for a marker or any visual clues at the start of each match.
- Be First: The first to the portal gets to become Godzilla. This means landing near the portal spawn point is key; prioritize speed and mobility.
Once transformed, you will fall into control of this towering Godzilla with insane abilities. But don’t get too comfortable; other players will be gunning for you!
Godzilla Abilities
As Godzilla, you will have three powerful abilities with which to rule over your opponents.
Roar: Reveals the position of other players nearby, giving you an advantage while hunting them.
Stomp: A powerful ground slam that hurts players, launching them into the air.
Heat Ray: A long-range attack that can cause massive damage to players and structures alike.
Use each ability, taking into consideration the cooldowns. A good mix between offense and defense is the key to surviving for as long as possible.
How to Beat Godzilla
If another player gets to the portal before you, there is still a way to defeat Godzilla. Here’s how:
- Weak Point Targets: Following some amount of damage taken, weak points will glow on Godzilla’s body. Hitting them gives a bonus in damage and also provides Godzilla Fragments that heal you and give temporary mobility boosts.
- Rail Gun: The Rail Gun was reintroduced in the recent update v33.20 and is quite effective against Godzilla. Make sure to pick one up when you come across it.
- Stay Mobile: Should you stay in one spot too long, Godzilla will flatten you. Dashes, jumps, and cover will help you avoid his capabilities.
But besting Godzilla isn’t just about survival-it’s got its own rewards. The player who deals the most damage takes home a Burst Quad Launcher and the Godzilla Medallion, which grants a recharging dash capability for the remainder of the match.
Tips to Success
Whether you are trying to be Godzilla, or take him down, here are some tips to help you conquer the event:
- Land Strategically: You will want to plan your drop according to being at the portal, first. Go hunting for Godzilla when he’s in an area full of good weapons and cover.
- Work as a Team: Teaming up with other players temporarily will help take him down much quicker if you’re not Godzilla. Just be prepared to turn on each other once he’s defeated.
- Keep Moving: Whether you are Godzilla or a regular player, one’s mobility is important. Use dashes, jump pads, and vehicles to keep yourself one step ahead of your enemies.
