It’s the Monday after the Super Bowl. You’re running on three hours of sleep, probably regretting those last few wings, and your boss expects you to be a functioning human. Enter Starbucks, here to save the day (or at least your caffeine levels) with a free coffee giveaway.
How to Get Your Free Coffee
Here’s the deal: If you’re a Starbucks Rewards member, open the app on Monday, and boom—you’ll see a coupon for a free tall (12 oz) hot or iced coffee. Just redeem it in-store or through the app.
Sounds great, right? But if you’re not in the loyalty program, tough luck. No freebies for you. Guess it’s time to sign up.
Why Is Starbucks Doing This?
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol has been on a mission to shake things up. The company’s been cutting back on promotions, but they’re pulling out a rare freebie to grab attention—especially with their new ad campaign rolling out.
They’re also making other changes: bringing back condiment bars, simplifying the menu, and having baristas write little affirmations on your cup. (Because nothing says “Monday motivation” like your latte telling you, “You got this.”)
Not Everyone’s a Fan
While free coffee is great, some baristas are reportedly not thrilled about the new cup messages, saying it slows them down and feels forced. Customers, meanwhile, are debating whether Starbucks is actually listening to what they want or just trying to “rebrand” the coffee experience.
The Bottom Line
If you love free coffee, grab yours while you can. If you hate corporate gimmicks, well, at least Monday’s caffeine boost is on the house. Either way, Starbucks just made the post-Super Bowl slump a little easier to handle.
