Amy Root, the duo that hails from the Netherlands, has released their debut EP “Lynn” on Reflektor Records.
The EP will consist of three tracks, namely, “Lynn”, “Florence” and “Luna”. The exciting EP displays a whole array of creative music and includes many native music elements from different countries.
The first track “Lynn” starts off with what seems like traditional, tribal beats, which go hand-in-hand with claps, giving it a raw vibe. The vocals also come in the form of looped chants which also have a primitive texture to it. The use of dreamy melodies creates a hurried feeling as it progresses into the latter half of the track. Being raw and creative, the tracks set a good ambiance for sure!
“Luna”, starts to illuminate from a dark background, into some drum works that are crisp – providing a good base for the track to rise from. Euphoric melodies take charge of the course of the track and provide a feeling of intimacy and ecstasy. Maintaining its texture consistently, the track surely will win your hearts!
“Florence”, is the final track of the album, which also begins with an interesting, luminous display of sounds. The use of melodic elements and drums are seen quite prominently in the track, like the others, but it still manages to offer a completely new vibe. Simple, addictive and dynamic is what this production is.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Jon Hopkins, Bonobo, and Jamie XX, the Lynn EP explores multiple world music cultures within a familiar, yet exciting framework. From Japanese drums, Bulgarian choral music, South African
percussion and more, the enigmatic duo brings their music to an exciting and surprising new way of experiencing dance music.
Coming just after the ADE 2018 performance from the duo, “Lynn” is an EP that will further add fuel to the rising career of the talented producers. Let us know your thoughts on this EP, and share it with your friends now!
