DOBREL Interview: The Making of ‘Nightmares’ and What’s Next

DOBREL is making waves in the global techno scene, and his latest collaboration with SPIKY on ‘Nightmares’ is further proof of his relentless energy and creativity. With previous hits like ‘In Your Eyes’ and ‘Game Over’ under his belt, DOBREL continues to push boundaries. In this exclusive interview, we discuss his partnership with SPIKY, their creative journey, and what the future holds for both artists.

The Story Behind ‘Nightmares’

SPIKY: Working with DOBREL was an effortless and inspiring experience. We both respect each other’s artistry, which made the creative process smooth and natural.

DOBREL: I’ve always wanted to flip ‘Sweet Dreams’ into a techno track, but I wasn’t sure how to approach the vocals. When SPIKY stepped in, she took the idea to the next level. Once I received the studio vocals, I knew we had something special, and we worked non-stop for a few days to perfect the final result.

How DOBREL and SPIKY First Connected

SPIKY: We first met in Miami during a Nexus Radio interview in 2024, and later that night, we both performed at the same venue. From there, we stayed in touch, supported each other’s releases, and eventually decided to collaborate.

The Fusion of Techno and Commercial Sounds

DOBREL: My sound leans toward club-oriented techno with strong kicks and deep bass, while SPIKY has a more commercial edge. Together, we created something unique—Hard Dance Pop!

Will There Be a Remix of ‘Nightmares’?

While there are no immediate plans for a remix, DOBREL and SPIKY are open to the idea if the right opportunity arises.

Career Highlights and Defining Moments

SPIKY: My most memorable moment was my first performance with a full team of dancers. It was a defining experience that solidified my passion for this career.

DOBREL: Playing at the iconic Ministry of Sound last year was a dream come true. I’ve performed at ADE, IMS, and Miami Music Week, but MoS has a legendary status that made it extra special.

DOBREL and SPIKY have no plans to slow down. They have two more techno singles set for release in March and April, followed by a house project debuting in May.
