Boundary-pushing Australian artist GG Magree and the American legendary bass producer Kill The Noise today drop their debut collaboration, “Taste Like Hell,” on Monstercat.
When GG first wrote the lyrics for “Taste Like Hell,” inspired by a personal poem about surrendering to love at the cost of losing oneself, she captured love’s raw, intoxicating allure. GG sent the topline to Kill The Noise, who delivered his dark bass magic, resulting in a track as visceral as the emotions behind it. Kill The Noise designed a production that mirrors the duality of beauty and pain, fusing emotively gritty basslines with heavy metal influences that tear through the track with angsty vocals from GG that feel both vulnerable and defiant. The experimental bass induces chaos and catharsis, creating a soundscape that feels like you’re floating in torment, a sound as haunting as it is electrifying. “Taste Like Hell” draws listeners deeper into its spell with each drop, capturing the relentless, addictive nature of love.
GG Magree’s impressive fusion of punk-rock and bass has propelled her to deliver standout performances at top festivals and venues such as Coachella, SOFI Stadium (as a special guest for Illenium), Lollapalooza, and Ultra. Collaborating with powerhouse names like Zeds Dead, ATLiens on their track “Black Sheep,” and Seven Lions, GG has solidified her presence as a trailblazer in the electronic music scene. A leading female force in the “rocktronic” genre, she brings her raw energy and rebellious spirit to life both on stage and in her music, notably with hits like “Deja Rave” and “King” and her cover of No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” alongside bass artist Jessica Audiffred.
Working along respected music industry names like Skrillex, deadmau5, and Tom Morello, to contributing to film scores including “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “XXX: Return of Xander Cage,” Kill The Noise’s force in music is undeniable. He’s taken over crowds at major festivals and venues like EDC, Lost Lands, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre, further cementing his influence in the electronic realm. From amassing millions of streams on DSPs to shaping the sound of modern bass music, his impact continues to resonate worldwide.
GG Magree shares, “Love is intense, it’s whole body consuming and “Taste Like Hell: is a song that embodies that. Originally, the song lyrics came from a poem I wrote on a plane. It’s about giving yourself fully to someone no matter how deeply they ruin you. I have always looked at love as the most addictive drug in the world because when it gets you, there’s almost 0 limitations. You pretty much tether your own madness to someone else’s sanity in order to keep functioning. Jake has always and will forever be one of my favorite producers. When I sent the topline to him, I had a very strong idea of sonically what the song should sound/feel like, and Jake bodied it. We wanted it to feel beautiful but painful, like floating on a cloud full of torture.”
Kill The Noise adds, “Good times writing with GG. Her and I had bounced some ideas around ahead of this particular song. So we already had some practice in for when she finally sent over the idea for “Taste Like Hell.” We knew what kind of production to go for. I think it took getting out a bunch of different ideas to realize it might be cool to figure out how to balance the heavy-hitting side of bass music with something more brooding and subtle. In the end, we took some extra time to go back and figure out how to do that in a way that felt authentic. Sometimes, the hardest part is having too many good ideas and picking the ones appropriate for the kind of story we wanted to tell.”
