Panamanian rebel Gian Varela releases his powerful and appropriately titled new track “Revolution,” for which he teamed up with Grammy-winning songwriter and vocalist Cor.Ece.
The Latin House-influenced spoken-word heater is also the very first release on Varela’s own label Monarka Records, marking a huge milestone in his musical career. “Revolution” certainly comes at an appropriate time not just for the US, but for the world, with its powerful vocals by Cor.Ece and strong associated messages, all tied together with percussive kick drums and a driving bassline. With this release, Gian Varela sets the bar high for Monarka Records as a home of diverse, globally influenced, and carefully cultivated people, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
“Having a label has always been a goal in my career. It’s not just to release my own music that I feel fits with this style of Latin house, but I also wanted to create a community through our music and the events I would throw around the world that could encompass the energy of Monarka. It’s an elegant, sophisticated, yet powerful vision of a label and a home for Latin house with no limits or boundaries. We want records that carry ‘attitude,’ which can be showcased on the dance floor. ‘Revolution,’ my first release on Monarka, and the label’s first release, on which I worked with the Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Cor.Ece. As the title suggests, the track conveys a strong message behind it.” – Gian Varela
