Nashville-based producer SubDocta and Denver’s Tyro collide for a massive new collaboration on Bassrush Records.

“Black Magic” is a fittingly titled dubstep destroyer that flexes its creators’ mastery over the dark arts of bass music. The track serves as a follow-up to SubDocta’s “Sweet & Sour” collaboration with Buku, which arrived on the label last summer.

“Black Magic” is an ungodly banger crafted from otherworldly energy and beastly configurations. Thunderstorm sounds set the stage as turbulent crashes loom over a torrent of inky rain. The cyclones are scored by an eerie cinematic melody that welcomes listeners into an underground chamber capable of sending chills down the spine. The mad scientist vocal samples introduce the rise of the monster. Devastating dubstep drops follow with mind-bending sound design, wonky low-end leads, bubbling layers, and sinister synths. A retro horror film organ drifts through to amplify the film-like feel while deepening the darkness. Once the beast is unleashed, there’s no turning back, with a final barrage flattening the scene with new levels of wonk and blistering bass. “Black Magic” is masterfully menacing and as hard-hitting as it gets.

SubDocta shares his excitement around the collab, saying, ““I’ve been a fan of Tyro’s music for years, so when we linked back at Red Rocks, we decided we had to write a tune. Came together quickly and it’s a fun one!”

Tyro echoes the sentiments, stating: “After doing a few remixes for SubDocta, we discussed working on a collab together when we both played at Red Rocks for the first Wobble Rocks. We discussed some basic ideas back and forth for a few months and eventually the song came together in about three sessions”

Nashville-based SubDocta has been mixing dubstep and bass music to create his signature style of ‘West Coast Wobble’ for years. The seasoned producer is a familiar face on the Bassrush imprint, with previous singles “Torqued,” “Clapback” alongside Thelem, and “Sweet & Sour” with Buku drawing press support from UKF, Heard It Here First, Orange County EDM, Relentless Beats, This Song Slaps and The Dropz. He is gearing up for a show at Soundcheck D.C, following on the heels of his recent ‘Left For Dead’ Tour throughout the first leg of 2024.

Tyro is a Denver-based bass producer with nearly a decade of experience to his name. He’s become highly regarded in the scene for his signature mix of gritty dubstep and silly vocal samples. His sound has garnered official remixes for the likes of P0gman, Boogie T, and SubDocta.

“Black Magic” is a veritable beast birthed from the deepest and darkest shadow realms.

SubDocta & Tyro’s new single “Black Magic” is available on all platforms via Bassrush Records.
